Give it a Shot

What made the experience of listening to My Soul to Lose the most enjoyable?

I didn't have any expectations for this book, I purely choose it because it was free and I wanted to listen to something that was different from my usual fantasy genre. This short story got intriguing as the story progresses. The beginning is typical for a teen novel and while the intro is slow, it provides a foundation as to why she is where she is going to be.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Soul to Lose?

I would have to say, it is her interactions between a particular female character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Death brings the shadow closer.

Fun

This book series falls under supernatural, with out being "same stuff, different day". There's alot of fun in it and Vincent created a world that you can get lost in... Probably a series for younger readers and maybe a little geared for the female reader, never the less... I, a 30 y/o male, read&listen to a wide range of SiFi/Fantasy: from Harry Potter to Interview with a Vampire to Harry Dresden. I enjoy this and It's something other then twilight to share with my 14y/o sister.

Amanda Ronconi is amazing and brings the characters and the world to life for me.

Thanks for the freebie!

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and she can do no wrong in my eyes. I love her!

Any additional comments?

What a tease! Why is that girl screaming? What do you mean "She took too much?" What is going on? I appreciate the fact that this book was free and yes, I will purchase book 1. Just to find out why she was screaming!

An exciting supernatural YA short story

Teenage Kaylee goes to the mall with her best friend. But that typical day goes all wrong, and Kaylee senses something or someone that sends her into an uncontrollable panic. Kaylee wakes up 15 hours later inside a juvenile psychiatric unit, having been injected with medications and strapped down to a gurney with restraints. The following days find Kaylee questioning herself, her sanity, and the loyalty of her family. Will she ever find a way to cope with her debilitating attacks? Will she ever be released from the hospital?

The author provides an accurate accounting of the environment within a juvenile psychiatric hospital. The narrator of this audiobook speaks clearly and enthusiastically. Overall, well done!

Soul to lose

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I probably wouldn't recommend this book. It isn't that great of a story, maybe if their we're more added to it, making the girls problems have a solution and more of a meaning why they happen. But if someone wanted to listen to a short story to pass the time I guess this would be the one,

What was most disappointing about Rachel Vincent’s story?

The ending was the most disappointing.. She wasn't helped and she was leaving while the other girl was suffering.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

The aunt was the best performance by the narrator.

Was My Soul to Lose worth the listening time?

It wasn't good and it want totally bad, so I'm neutral on if its worth the listen. It would have been much better if their had been more to it. But it gives you something to think about,

Entertaining

I found this book entertaining, although obviously written for younger readers than myself. It has left me intrigued and looking forward to listening to the series.

Short but very interesting!

This book I had in my library for a while and have been meaning to listen too. It was really interesting but surprisingly short and it leaves u hanging with no resolution. I guess I’m off to see if this is a series.
