Publisher's summary

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow - impossible though it seems - they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Slightly Disappointed

At first, I was very excited about this story. It was very captivating. However, the narrator's performance of Miss Peregrine herself was a nightmare. So annoying that I actually felt nauseous once. Why make her sound such a way? So disappointed.

Wonderful story, ful of excitement and details. The reading goes easily and you really struggle to reach the end.

This dude's cockney accent needs work

Seriously- it was often distracting at times. Also, I kept thinking that it felt a bit like a creative writing project where a young writer is given a series of photos and asked to construct a narrative that joins them.

It was interesting, and ill probably read book two- but it isn't the best thing I've read this year (or this month).

must be a book for 5th graders

must be a book for 5th graders, and some conversation was crude and unnecessary for the story.

great story

Really fun story. Kind of a combo of the X-Men and Harry Potter. I will probably try the next book in the series.

not the best narration. ..

The story was good, definitely something new which is always nice.

I was not a fan of the narration at all. I thought it was too immature, yes there are kids and it is whimsical, but that doesn't mean it should be narrated like an exaggerated cartoon. Regretted paying for the narration, I should have just kept reading it.

Slow starting but exhilarating story

My son and I really enjoyed this story! The narrator was brilliant! So, he doesn't have an authentic British accent, he's reading a story! We've started listening to the second book and would have preferred Jesse over Kirby, ah well......
