I could hear it because the narrator was good.And I enjoy the author.

One of my favorites

Loved this series. You know it's good when it ends and you feel like you lost loved ones.

Fantastic end of to the trilogy

There is another weighty plot in this book. I enjoyed that we got to see more of the magic within the world. There was a little too much running around for me but at least we were taken to some nostalgic locations. There were some great surprises near the end. The narration was really well done.

Great book, fantastic author

I've been reading Tamora Pierce since I was a teenager, these are the only books that I will still go back to the young adults section for to buy for myself.

A (mostly) satisfying end

The ending was difficult for me to buy, but I adore the characters and style. I'm willing to forgive a lot from my favorite childhood author. I especially love the way Susan Denaker does the voice of Pounce.

This was much better than I remembered

I had read this book when it had been published. Originally, I didn’t like that Beka had ended up with a character different from the rogue. But after having read all three books one right after another this book was perfect. I like the ending the way it is written.

This book is the final installment of the Rebaka Cooper series. It wraps up her story and sets up the story of her descendant for the Alanna stories. The first book Terrier begins her story as a “puppy” for the provost guard and established her as a person of integrity and justice for all. The second book, Bloodhound, describes her growth as a Provost Guardswoman and tells another story about Bekas career. That book also sets her up to partner with one of her trainers for the final book, Mastiff. Mastiff wraps up her stories and sets up the stories of her descendants. Those stories are found in the Alanna series and the Tricksters series.

Tamora Pierce could have written many more books about Beka and her life after Mastiff, Beka is a character with a lot of depth. You will find that if you read many of Tamoras books that all of her central characters have a lot of depth, and they have a lot of adventures. I have particularly enjoyed the Circle of Magic series, of which I hope that Tamora is able to continue to write and the Immortal series.

I love this trilogy. I highly recommend it to everyone. Tamora Pierce is an excellent storyteller.

Well written and beautifully and movingly performed! The sound quality is excellent as well. It was all I hops for.

It has the same warm feeling and draws you in ever bit as much as an Eddings book.

I have the other two she read of Tamora Pierce. She was spot on with her characters.

What did you love best about Mastiff?

What I loved best about Mastiff was the mystery and investigation action. As I listened to all the pieces of the puzzle come to life, my mind was constantly working to try to figure it all out....only to find out that there was still so much more to the story. As usual, Tamora Pierce took me on a journey with the characters I've come to know and love in this series.

What did you like best about this story?

All of the "little" surprises is what I liked best about the story. The struggle and near misses of the characters and their prey was breathtaking and attention keeping. I found myself almost in the story as I listened.

Which character – as performed by Susan Denaker – was your favorite?

Of course, Beka is my favorite character. Her interactions with the other characters and storyline always makes me smile or outright laugh at times.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Beka's relationship with Achoo is especially touching. The deceit of one of the characters was devastating.
