Publisher's summary

A New York Times best seller!

What was once the Western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, 15-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, 15-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

Better than I expected. I'm very happy :)

When I bought this audio I wasn't sure what to expect but was told it was good. So, of course, I bought it. I was so sucked into the story I couldn't put it down. I drove, cleaned and cooked while listening. Marie Lu, AWESOME job! This book/audiobook has action, some suspense and little romance. Narration was awesome too. It was paced well, spoken well and kept me involved. Steven Kaplan has one of those voices I just like to listen to. I did have a little trouble with Mariel Stern's voice at the begining (it's a little squeeky) but it grew on me and I was able to go with it.

Day has been wronged by his government, the Republic and has been on the run since he was 10 years old. Now, at the age of 15 he is a famous criminal and wanted by the government. June, 15, is a prodigy who is being goomed for a successful career in the Republic's military. Day and June's lives cross when, one night, Day has a run in with June's Brother, Metias. Their lives come colliding into a snowball of events rolling out of control. Lies and truths have been revealed. Now Day and June have to decide what to do with these revelations.

A book I definitely recommend.

Excellent!

If you like books like the Hunger Games & Divergent, you'll LOVE this book too! It keeps you guessing what will happen to Day & June next. I just purchased book 2, to continue their journey.

Perfectly done story

The female narrator is good, the male narrator is good, the way they swap back and forth is seamless. The story is also very captivating, not leaning too hard on cheesy romance. Good at keeping things fast-paced and interesting. A good example of Audible done right.
