Since ancient times, the great demon prison Zzyzx has protected the world from the most dangerous servants of darkness, including Gorgrog, the Demon King. After centuries of plotting, the Sphinx is on the verge of recovering the five artifacts necessary to open the legendary prison. Facing the potential of a world-ending calamity, all friends of light must unite in a final effort to thwart the Sphinx's designs and find a safe home for the five artifacts. To this end, Kendra, Seth, and the Knights of the Dawn will venture far beyond the walls of Fablehaven to strange and exotic magical preserves across the globe, where the end of every quest becomes the beginning of another. In this explosive series finale, allegiances will be confirmed and secrets revealed as the forces of light and darkness collide in a desperate struggle to control the keys to the demon prison.

"Kept me turning the pages until 4:40 in the morning . . . deep, intriguing, magical... one of the most enjoyable fantasies I've read." (Christopher Paolini, bestselling author of Eragon)
"The Fablehaven series is generating buzz as a contender in the fantasy-adventure genre to replace the Harry Potter franchise." (Hollywood Reporter)
"[Mull's] story offers unexpected twists and entertainingly scary creatures." (The New York Times)
Recently found a love for books and with Audible I can clean and keep going - I also use it in my classroom to urge kids to read.
This was a fantastic book, only I went backwards. It was The Five Kingdoms that got me to Brandon Mull, but this was a definite investment of time and well worth it. !!
The overall story is good however the audible version was taken from CD and some CD's were not spliced right. you get "you have reached the end of CD (number). please insert CD (number + 1) to continue, all while the actual story plays over top. so it's garbled in some places.
The hardest thing to work out when reading any new series isn't that it will end, although that is always a worry. I mean, who doesn't want a good series to go on and on? No, it is the worry that the pace and the character development slows, or even stops. Brandon Mull has outdone himself in the final book. The scenery and plot constantly twisted and changed. You didn't know what was coming next, where the protagonists would travel to or who would meet them. Bravo sir.
As for E.B. Stevens.... You are on par with Jim Dale, one of the world's best performers and the man who performed all seven Harry Potter books. You did a fantastic job through all five books, and in particular didn't lose whatever gained from the first book. Well done.
Get all five books paper or listening. It is totally worth it. I now have both complete sets.
I love this series. This finally was great. My boys and I really enjoy this story.
Things I liked:
Seth really does try to be good but in learning to make good choices he makes mistakes. I like his honest stubbornness.
Kendra's character is fun to follow. I'm so glad the author did not make her relationship with Bracken weird.
I love Newl and Dorin. (Hope I spelled those right) Long Live FritoLay!
The Creatures are all fun. The adventures are awesome! The characters are captivating!
This book was an excellent ending to a great story and was a series that I will never forget! Really didn't want this one to end and can't wait to see what else Brandon Mull puts out there after an outstanding book such as this and an amazing series in all! :)
From a mom's perspective, the book was challenging for the mind, with high level vocabulary, well developed characters and a thorough plot. My girls loved the touch of romance as well! EB Steven's excellent portrayal of so many different characters was phenomenal.
