Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I'm in it now. gotta finish series though just ok

I've committed his to the series so that I feel obligated to see it to the last sentence. though the premise of the story is interesting somehow for me the writing distracts. or perhaps it's the narrator.

Captivating

There is nothing like an audio book to pick you up and throw you into the story. Her voice is great, but there are some confusing moments where she changes her tone in the middle of doing someone's voice (supposed to be growling, but changes to merely low, or vise versa). Luckily it doesn't happen often, so I still very much enjoyed this book. Her voice SOUNDS like I imagine Tris sounding.
This book is amazing. It feels like being in another world when I listen to it. I wanted to know what came next so badly that I sped it up to 130 at various action scenes. This one is well worth listening to!

Not as good as the first

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed listening to the narrator, and she does a good job with the pace as well as distinguishing between characters and scenes.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Trish needs to be less "woe is me". It is the main theme of the book, but or thus, it is too excessive.

Which scene was your favorite?

Haven't finished it yet. Don't think I have a favorite scene though.

Could you see Insurgent being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I hope they make the movie but with less of Trish's self-loathing. Same actors as the first.

A step down from divergent

Way too much focus on romance and not enough plot or character development this time

Not Dauntless - Dithering

Emma Galvin puts as much life possible into the story as she can. It is well read. The story, however, needs help. Tris is supposedly Dauntless or Divergent showing aptitude for three faction but I think there should be another faction of Ditherers. She could be their leader. I think I had my limit of indecision, crying, lying, and whining. I guess I will have to see why my 13 year old daughter likes this so much (though I do get a fair amount of crying out of her too).
