Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

A step down from divergent

Way too much focus on romance and not enough plot or character development this time

Not Dauntless - Dithering

Emma Galvin puts as much life possible into the story as she can. It is well read. The story, however, needs help. Tris is supposedly Dauntless or Divergent showing aptitude for three faction but I think there should be another faction of Ditherers. She could be their leader. I think I had my limit of indecision, crying, lying, and whining. I guess I will have to see why my 13 year old daughter likes this so much (though I do get a fair amount of crying out of her too).

Just didn't wow me

Story was ok, but this series just leaves me wanting a bit more. Narrator was good though, so I'd look for her again. It didn't help that the app fiasco happened in the middle of this and lost my place not once but twice. Not sure I'll bother with the next book in the series.

Whaaaaat?

Any additional comments?

It's kind of what you feel throughout this book. You explore the other factions and how they run and find out that it's all pretty much corrupt. The main characters start to fray and you wonder how everything will pan out. The ending leaves a huge WTF feeling as you realize you may have already thought it was happening the whole time, or guessed at other thoughts. So instead of jumping into the 3rd book, you feel like you need a few days to digest everything that happens.

Just letting you know the roller coaster you are heading towards if you get this book, hope it helps. ;)

Entertaining

What other book might you compare Insurgent to and why?

Hunger Games

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't think it should be made into a movie.

Any additional comments?

This book was entertaining. I think the author has some maturing to do with writing technic and character development. Interesting story I just hope it goes somewhere deeper in the third book.

Audible makes mistakes

I love the books! BUT Audible edited/skipped over whole paragraphs from time to time.
