Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Amazing

Honestly one of the best books I've "read" in a while. Her voice sounded almost exactly like Shaylene Woodley's voice which really helped the imagery.

I like

The best thing about this book is the ending. Not because I did not like the book but because it keeps you hanging in away that you can't wait for the next book to come out. Great story!

Good follow up, if a bit formulaic.

What did you love best about Insurgent?

The ending! It had me on the edge of my seat and thankfully began to answer more questions than simply ask more. It made me excited for the third book - more so than with the ending of the first book.

If you’ve listened to books by Veronica Roth before, how does this one compare?

It seemed to fit right in with the other novel in the series - I don't believe that Veronica Roth has any other novels besides this series.

Which scene was your favorite?

There is a point where Tris (main female character) is drugged to be more "peaceful" and her reaction and Emma Galvin's performance is unforgettable. I was laughing the whole time, which I don't think I would have done if I were only reading it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not cry, I felt the author kept the violence contained enough for that. I laughed a few times - as stated above about my favorite scene.

Any additional comments?

I did not enjoy the predictable vulnerability of Tris' character in the aftermath of the last novel. I also did not enjoy the constant fighting that Tris did with both herself and Tobias. Hoping we'll be past all that in the next novel.

Excellent book for a 9 hour drive

This was a fun book to listen to during a long road trip. Complete with a lot of action and adventure, Roth does a great job keeping you hooked all the way through. Looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.

2nd Book of Divergent Series

What did you love best about Insurgent?

It picks up right where Divergent leaves you. This book is full of action from start to finish. What an interesting story line. I just finished and am gutted the next book isn't out yet. So much coming!

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

She's the best narrator's I've heard on audible so far.

Good story despite being immature in places.

Not sure I will pick up the next in the series. So far, the first 3/4th of the first book was the strongest part of the series, so far.
