Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Best book of 2012!

What did you love best about Insurgent?

The story! I found this book to be extremely unique and in a class by itself. I couldn't stop listening once I started. This story has many twists and turns. Just when I thought I had figured it out and said...OK THIS IS IT....BOOM something else happened and took it in a different direction.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Four is my favorite because he is the true definition of what brave should be. He faces his fears while being a true leader.

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ms. Galvin is a new narrator for me, but I did enjoy her voice. She does a very good job with her narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending to this book took me by complete surprise and had me literally screaming....WHEN IS BOOK 3 COMING OUT????

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend these books! They are unique and ones you don't want to miss out on! I await book 3 on pins and needles! Unexpectedly great!

Looking forward to Book 3!

Any additional comments?

Good entertaining read and enjoyed it all the way through. I plan to pre-order Book 3 because I am enjoying the series so much. Highly recommend for anyone who likes entertaining books with only mild violence (it does have some violence but no graphic details), a little romance (mostly just the occasional kiss), and a good story line. I would rate it PG-13 and did not have any issues listening to it with my young daughters in the car, only turning it down low occasionally. Only gave it 4 stars because I reserve 5 stars for those books that I could listen to over and over again.

Disappointing

As the title says, I was very disappointed with this novel. I was really looking forward to enjoying this after loving the first book, but to me it did not feel like a good continuation of the first part. I found that Tris and Four's romance became very childish, and I'm sorry to say that I was getting annoyed with some of the characters at times. After having discussed the book with some friends, they all shared similar feeling and some even advised not to read the third book as it just goes downhill. Even more disappointing....

On the bright side, Emma Galvin did a marvellous job keeping me engaged, even though at times I could not care less about the scenario characters were getting themselves in.

Do I recommend this? Tough call because it is the trend for sequels to not be as good as anticipated. Give it a try if you're willing to listen or read this with an open mind. If you want to preserve the imagery and the characters of the first novel, then maybe it's best to stay there. I may give it a second chance in a few months to see if that changes my opinion, but I doubt it'll help.

Divergent was so much better.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The first book in this series was so exciting, but this one seemed to drag along. It repeated the same stories over and over again and didn't grab my attention in the same way that the first book did.

Would you recommend Insurgent to your friends? Why or why not?

Not sure.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Emma Galvin?

Yes, but her narration was better in Divergent. The characters were much more distinct.

Was Insurgent worth the listening time?

It was an okay listen.

This book was outstanding!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to a friend because it was so good. It had a very well thought out plot and many things you would not expect.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

The most memorable moment of Insurgent was when Jeanine revealed that Caleb had gave her the information about her aptitude test results. I truly believed Caleb was on their side so it really shocked me.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the scene where Tobias hits his dad, Marcus, with a belt in front of the Candor and Dauntless because I think he deserved it and it showed the group that he was not a coward.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I wanted to finished it in parts because it was so long.

Intresting yet many character "unseasoned" moments

Would you listen to Insurgent again? Why?

I would listen to this book again since it delves deeper into the characters and you get to read about their history. The main character, Tris, states that she is only 16 and much of the emotions and reactions in the story were quite typical for a (childish Tris) 16 year old.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters all take on a life of their own and intermingle effectively. I'm pulling for Peter to become a good guy. The author makes you feel that spirit may be down deep inside of him!

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The reader gives a great performance!
