Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

great series, be sure to read the first one

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

My two daughters also have enjoyed listening to the book, age 12 and 32. So you can see that is one of those books that cuts across age/interest levels

Riveting and Slow!

It was an easy listen and I enjoyed the book overall. Some parts were riveting and I didn't want to turn it off. Some parts were slow and I wanted the chapter to be over!

Neglected to hold my interest

Would you be willing to try another book from Veronica Roth? Why or why not?

Book One, Divergent established a somewhat interesting premise, but this book failed to provide any interesting expansion of the premise. I might try another book by this author, but will probably not continue with this series,

Surprisingly great

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended the book to my friends and sister because I think the evolution of the story is just breath taking. Every time I listen to it I'm in another world living at Trice's place.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

There's many memorable moments in this book but (without giving away to much) I'd say that the execution is my favorite one.

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listen only at Divergent from Emma Galvin's other performances and this one is pretty close since it's the second book of the trilogy but I feel like this one is deeper and it gave chills.

Awesome follow up to my favorite book!

Where does Insurgent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Insurgent is in my top 5 favorite books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

The most memorable moment was Tris beating the simulation when they are tricking her into thinking she is sneaking out of the compound with Four

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

Her voice isnt what I picture for Tris but her voice did convey the proper emotion when being open with Four

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire relationship between tris & four is so convincing.

Any additional comments?

Divergent will always be my favorite and I wasnt sure how I could like a second book after Dauntless was no longer but it was awesome! I cant wait for book 3

Great Listen

Picking up where the first book left off, this second installment in the series is a good listen with a great cliffhanger of an ending.

Great Book. Even greater performance

If you could sum up Insurgent in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, Surprising, Interesting

What other book might you compare Insurgent to and why?

Any other Dystopian novel or series except they all have their own story.

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

She really brings the story to life. Well done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Actually I think I just about teared up on a few occasions. Laugh, maybe once or twice.

Any additional comments?

This was well done and is a great book.

Definitely a cliffhanger for the next book...

Very interesting. Writing-wise, it seemed to be jumping around a lot and was a bit harder to follow in the audio version than the first book, but the story is intriguing. And I still have some of the same problems with the characters that I had in the first book - they flip-flop a lot in their personalities and decisions. And the teen angst can be a bit over the top. But, that said, I can't wait to read/listen to the third book! Definitely a social commentary and I want to see which direction Roth heads with it after the big revelation cliffhanger.

Great sequel, can't wait for book 3

I couldn't wait to start this book after reading Divergent. The main character Tris contnues to grow as does the innocent romance between her and Tobias. My only complaint is that the technical descriptions ( anytime the author has to go in depth about computers, applications, or data) are vague and show the authors limited knowledge. Overall though, the book kept me interested and was unpredictable. I like a good story about a tough, no-nonsense girl, with an abrasive attitude, and a huge heart.
