Publisher's summary

Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow.

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.

The tattoo does bring changes - not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils.

Critic reviews

"Another highly addictive read....Compulsive enough to give the Twilight series a run for its money, and dizzyingly more sinister." ( Publishers Weekly)
"This dark fantasy about survival and transformation is as mesmerizing as its urban faery subjects." ( Booklist)
"Readers will be drawn in by Marr's darkly poetic imagery and language, her vivid portrayal of the art of tattooing, and her shadowy love triangle. This is indeed a delicious, smoky delight." ( Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books)

Ok

What did you like best about Ink Exchange? What did you like least?

I like the story line - and the way the book is written, but I feel like there is room for more and was a lil too expected of the outcome and a lil cheesy in places.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I still love the fairy story line and the interaction between Fae and humans - the differences between the courts - would like to know how the high court interacts with the rest of the courts and humans to be honest.

What does Nick Landrum bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

At first I actually like the first reader better (from book 1) but I felt like his voice grew on me as the book went on. He did keep me enthralled and has a relaxing feel when he reads the book.

Did Ink Exchange inspire you to do anything?

Get book #3 : )

Any additional comments?

I think I agree with a lot of other comments out there - I still think book 1 was the best so far - so we will see how book 3 goes!

I tried...

I really tried to enjoy this. Too many bad decisions... too frustrating!

I love the fantasy genre but the wasn't really a story to get behind for all the frustration.

I hate not finishing a book but I give...

TRIGGER Warning for Sexual Assault Surivers

Author tries to hard to make actual monster s sympathetic. Does not handle issues concerning magical date rape and issues concerning magically induced consent in an appropriate manner.
