Assassin Nuns? Yes, Please!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Grave Mercy?

Any of the moments involving poison. I was fascinated with how poison was used in the story, and some of the heartbreaking moments that came with it!

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the scenes early in the novel where Isame is at the convent, training for her service. And I can't deny that I was a fan of the kissing that happens later in the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found the book to be difficult to take in all at once, so I listened over several weeks. This is my general approach to historical fiction, especially when you toss in all those French names!

Narrator was great but book slow

It's a sweet romance with a girl who can kick some a** however, it is slow. I like a story with more sensuality and this didn't have it. Narrator was excellent which is hard to come by.

Great plot

Enjoyed the book although the narrator struggled with some of the male voices but only some of the minor characters so it wasn't a huge distraction.

Great narration

I hate it when the narrator doesn’t match the character. In this book the main character was young, and I’m so glad the narrator had a young sounding voice to match.

This was a story full of mystery. It may have been a bit too much mystery for me. I like when the story moves along and things are revealed all throughout. But in this book, treachery and betrayal was present throughout. It wasn’t until the end when you find out the reasons why and who was responsible. Which is obviously how it works. The problem I guess I had was that you knew from the beginning there was a traitor. Instead of slowly finding out there was a traitor. And that made the book seem a little slow to me because instead of getting clues about who, it was just one betrayal and problem after another with no clues as to who was behind it.

But, the story was still a very good story. I really loved the idea of females assassins. That was really intriguing. I love a kick-butt heroine. I just wish Isme would have had more of a chance to be kick-butt.

Just More of the Same

I felt like I had read this before. A few interesting moments, but not original.

Wonderful story line, a pleasant read.

Where does Grave Mercy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Though the summary of this book would have you believing that it is all dark and gore, it is far from it. It certainly has a ring of death, but in no way is it anything terrifying. The characters are sweet, the love is innocent, and the story line has a nice run of little twists here and there but for the most part, is predictable. I enjoyed listening to it, the author takes you into another world. But it is not a deep read, there are not layers of details interlocking but rather a straightforward story that is nice to follow.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Isme, she is a great heroine!

Which character – as performed by Erin Moon – was your favorite?

Isme, she is a good narrator. Not overly dramatic.
