The highly anticipated sequel to the instant New York Times best seller that critics are calling "out-of-this-world awesome".
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna's social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout best seller Illuminae continues onboard the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain's pampered daughter, Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren't just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia - and possibly the known universe - is in their hands.
But relax. They've totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling listeners into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

Epic Space Opera.
The different points of view.
Lots of weight and immediacy.
Nice mix of young adult romance with epic space battles done in a documentary style with a touch of Game of Thrones.
My book says this was the sequel. Please tell me that is not true. This book was exceptional, matching the first. Only complaint I have is that I wanted a little more Katy and Ezra. Characters were rich and the narration and sound effects were out of this world, no pun intended. Please, please give me more Katy,Ezra, Nick , and Hannah. I want them to have adventurous together, with Aiden of course. I really like the relationship between him and Katy. Also the rest of the crew of course.
Colorado Springs, CO, United States I particularly enjoy romance/fantasy books, management books, and YA fiction.
Not only did I love the full cast narration but it was a fitting sequel and another piece of the puzzle. Make sure you read/ listen to book 1 first or you will be very confused. a great read/listen for all ages. It has quite a few adult themes so make sure younger listeners are prepared. Good banter and new characters make for an amazing listen. Buy this book.
Gemina, the second book in the Illuminae series, offers a satisfying mix of hard-science science fiction, vivid characters and romantic comedy. The full-cast performance, with sound effects and occasional music makes it an engaging listen. The use of multiple voices and actors takes full advantages of Kaufman and Kristoff's floating, hyper-omniscient viewpoint as the narration leaps from characters in love or in imminent danger, to artificial intelligences to black-hearted villains. While the authors indulge in a bit of wish-fulfillment in the construction of the story, I think adult and young-adult listeners alike will be rooting for the young heros as they outwit evil and win through crises.
Recently found a love for books and with Audible I can clean and keep going - I also use it in my classroom to urge kids to read.
This was as awesome as the first book, Action, Mild Violence, Teens Kicking Ass and Taking Names. It just keep getting better with each addition to the story. At first I was wondering what happened to the Hypasia, then it finally came into play - Just as manipulative as the first. . . having you think one way only to crush those predictions and have to rethink!
I absolutely loved it!!! 😍 Missed Ezra and Kady since they didn't have a big part in this book. But I liked Nik, Hannah and Ella. But I would soooo recommend this book to a million people. Although I would suggest they listen to it with a physical copy of the book in hand it's so much more of an experience listening to the audio while looking at the pages of the book.
