Great for its genre

While painfully reading through The Hunger Games series I felt like I was being forced through a school reading assignment. Utopian society books with constantly depressing undertones like 1984 or Hunger Games just don't do it for me. Thankfully, this book is fun and the main character is strong and seems to be enjoying her journey most of the time. As far as Utopian society books go, this is by far the best I've ever read.

Good Story, Good Reading

Saw the movie first but coming into the book, as usual, found so much was left out or changed. Great story, good detail, great reader.

Kept me listening !

Similar to THG in that it's a dystopian novel, but a totally different story.

Love an interesting plot with a strong female protagonist who yes, may have a love interest, but isn't defined by him.

(and it's YA fiction, but don't let that stop you!)

As soon as I finished the second, I came to audible to download the third... and learned it isn't out yet. Please hurry, Ms. Roth !

Divergent

I read this book at my granddaughter’s request. She insisted that I would like it. She was right. It’s full of exciting twists and turns while providing food for thought. Independence in living, thinking and making choices is supremely important.

I really enjoy this whole series but I don't believe they were written for children or young teens. there's a little too much violence.

All of the detail in Divergent made me believe I was There I felt tears when her mother died and pain when Tris felt pain this book is spectacular

Wow!

I finally got around to starting this series and I am so glad I did! I've seen people comparing it to The Hunger Games. The only similarities is the dystopian future and the young female lead. Although, if you enjoyed Hunger Games, you'll most likely enjoy this as well. The narrator, Emma Galvin does an excellent job with the narration! Looking forward to the rest of this series!

What did you love best about Divergent?

Veronica Roth is a new author for me, her book dirvergent was very much with the theme of the Hunger Games which I truly loved. This was a great Y.A novel. She really did a great job in capturing the interests of both boys and girls

What was one of the most memorable moments of Divergent?

There are many memorable moments in this book from from the beginning aptitude test, to their placement, to the initiation and the of test of their fears. I really enjoyed this book and think that if you enjoy the dystopian novels this is a book for you

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to Emma Galvin before but I think she did a very good job with this story. I feel she was captivating and helped hold your interest in the characters

Excellent performance

The narrator portrayed the main character perfectly. Young, but strong. Never resorting to "poutiness" to convey youth, and able to switch between characters quickly and cleanly.

Audio over print

I've both read and listened to Divergent. I feel the audio version is the best way to enjoy it. Emma Galvin does a fantastic job.
