What made the experience of listening to Divergent the most enjoyable?

Becoming invested in the different characters and feeling like I know them and could see what I was hearing.

What does Emma Galvin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The different voices and cadences and enunciations were awesome.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to give it away!

good story and an excellent narrarator.

Better than the movie, there's more detail, more explanation of motives, etc.
The narrarator has a good clear voice, easy to understand and easy to accept as the various characters. She doesn't have the range of differentiation in her voices as some other narrarators, but there is no mistaking that they are different characters.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Well I just finished the first Divergent book. I have been a fan of the movies since the beginning. I AM SO HAPPY I decided to read the books. Wish I could have read them first, it would make for better anticipation with the movies.. But at least I will have a chance to read allegiant first... Just got Insurgent now so time to get down to it! OH yeah, and big ups to Emma Galvin. Perfect voice for audible and really good way of creating suspense versus the movies.

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

She was on point. Not to cut and dry, and very suspenseful.

This was a good read. It was a great choice to follow the Hunger Games series.

Really loved, great concepts

If you could sum up Divergent in three words, what would they be?

Another great recommendation from my sister I loved the concept of the factions!! It does remind me of Hunger Games but less intense and more concepts and facets to the story. I will definitely be reading the next in this series!!

As an adult, perhaps I am not exactly the target audience for this book, but that has not stopped me from enjoying any number of young adult fiction novels.

This book is great from the standpoint of entertainment, but I feel as though it may be lacking in some of the deeper thought and meaning that I have come to expect of such a high publicity piece. The characters can be one dimensional, and their development often leaving much to be desired.

I found myself speeding up the narration because the plot was more important than the words.

Hard to stop listening

The story may be a little bit juvenile and many pieces seem borrowed from other stories, but the story is told in a very gripping way and it keeps you on edge for nearly the entire book. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Loved this book!

This book was great, Veronica Roth has obviously spent a lot of time figuring out how the society is organized and how the different factions interact with each other. Tris was an interesting heroine, and I liked how she embraces her new faction and overcomes her small stature and puritan upbringing to earn her place with the Dauntless. She shows herself to be intelligent, resourceful and able to adapt in different situations; as well as showing leadership skills and loyalty to her friends and family. She shows her teenage girl side and weaknesses, and struggles to deal with them and keeping them hidden while earning acceptance. I could not wait for the second book to come out after I finished this book, and now I am waiting for the third book; this story definitely has me hooked!
