Love this book!

Wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book being read to me as I enjoy reading them to myself but I really did. Great job, great book!

Listened to this twice start to finish

Would you listen to City of Heavenly Fire again? Why?

I already did. I finished the mortal instruments series and then moved on to the infernal devices as a crutch for my addiction, and I found that the two series refer to each other all the time. I remembered several instances in this book where that happened and had to go back and reread it to find the Easter eggs.

What did you like best about this story?

There is so much real emotion to the characters and the story line. I found that I was asking myself both times reading it, "why don't I have as good of friends as them?" I found myself clinging to nothing but hope just like them, and faith in Cassandra Claire, throughout the story!

What does Jason Dohring and Sophie Turner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jason brings an element of softness to Alec's character that I wouldn't have imagined. Mostly though, hearing a masculine voice when reading from a male perspective, and vice versa for a female. It's almost like you're in their head, hearing others' voices from within.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

In the end, the emotion between Alec and Magnus. "I don't want the rest of the world, I want you" Also, between Rafael and Magnus. I had no idea they were so close.

The series overall

The story was ok. I didn’t like how there were so many different narrators with different accents throughout the whole series. I have listened to a lot of books and by far the narration of this series was the worst.

Good ending

I never like the end of a series but this one had a pretty good ending, it was a little sugar sweet but I still loved it.. this book has the jace and clary parts we have all been waiting for, a mostly fitting end to some of the key players and an interesting direction for Simon, talk about a team player all the way!

Only one side note, although the narrators did a fine job it is very distracting to have so many different ones over 6 books times. Sometimes people had an accent in one book but not the next and some that never should have had an accent at all.. it distracts from who u see the characters in your own mind and then you have to learn the new voice or accent to figure out who is talking. Just my opinion.

Can’t wait to read one of the spin-off series!!
And I absolutely love how long they are!! I hate paying so much for a 5hr book.. that doesn’t even get me though a work day or a road trip then I have to shop for a new book so fast.. so these were nice and long and I loved every minute!!

Sophie was great

Would really have just enjoyed just enjoyed listening to Sophie. She was wonderful although keeping the same person narrating through out the series would have been better.

like the story but... always a but

loved the story seemed like it was going to be a finale then she changed her mind. like the ay she kept dropping hints to firther books with new characters. did not like the change in readers though after 5 books the same. having a new reader was...... distracting at first but in the end a good listen.

Perfect ending to a great series

Everything comes full circle in this final installment to the Mortal Instruments series that leaves you wanting more.

Cassandra Clare continues to blow me away with her skills at world building and its been such a pleasure to get lost in the lives of Shadowhunters, Downworlders, Fae, and Demons alike.

This is a lengthy listen but you won't be able to put it down.

Narration was not the best

I don’t love going through a whole series with so many different readers that obviously didn’t listen to the previous books since they don’t use the same pronunciation of words. I also felt like the use of two narrators in this book was just annoying.
