When friends stop trusting each other, Darkness is there to fan the flames.
Things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird’s soul has shattered. With everything she’s ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey’s fading fast. It’s seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to get to her. But how? He will have to die to do so, the Vampire High Council stipulates. And then Zoey will give up for sure. There are only seven days left.
Enter BFF Stevie Rae. She wants to help Z but she has massive problems of her own. The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up, and this time not even Stevie Rae can protect them from the consequences. Her kinda boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy for his own good. The truth is, Stevie Rae’s hiding a secret that might be the key to getting Zoey home but also threatens to explode her whole world.
In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite: ex-Fledgling, trust-fund baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it). She’s always been blessed (if you could call it that) with visions that can reveal the future, but now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her with the goddess’s own voice, whether she wants it or not. Aphrodite’s loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey’s fate hangs in the balance.
Three girls…playing with fire…if they don’t watch out, everyone will get Burned.

I read the first few books in this series and really liked them so I decided to get this one on audio. Well the voices they use in this are almost enough to make you not want to finish. I will either read the others or skip the rest of this series
I love to read and listen to books. I'm a hair dresser. I live in New York and I have 5 children. All grown. 30, 27, 24, 23, 19. And I Love them all very much.
Stevie Rae is falling in love and keeping it a secret. Zoey is shattered, and know one can wake her up. Stark will have to go in to her dreams and wake her up, will it work, you will have to listen.
Caitlin is no Edwina Wren, but this is MUCH better than jenna or cassandra (books 4-6). Still think there needs to be more difference in the character voices, but at least her voice and inflection is tolerable. She definitely gets bonus points for the correct pronunciations, for example sons of erubis and refeim.
Story itself was good. Was def a lead into the next book. Can't wait to start it.
I read for my self and listed to all of these books before. The first time listening to this book and the next one it was very hard because Caitlin Davies is terrible. She drags the words out very much that it added over an hour to the time length of this book. I would like to think that if they were going to change narrators in a book series they should at least have to have listed to the other books in the series. The accents Caitlin uses are nothing like the previous books and just the way she pronounces names, etc is just plain terrible! Keep the same narrators for a series or at minimum some one that sounds like the previous narrators and at minimum the words are pronounced the same. Bottom line, good book in the series if you can get past the narrator.
i love the books..i have followed the whole series all the way..but they are gettin very detailed in places thats not needed..for me i would like for it to get to the piont without being drug out..the writters are great an so is the narrator..i hope the next book is as good as the last an not so drawn out..
As always, P.C and Kristen, have brought us a terrific book!! I have loved all the books in the House Of Night (HON)series. The books, to me, give a little of everything. I've laughed out loud and had people look at me strange in the doctors office while I listen waiting on my appointment. I gotten angry, cried my heart out and even fallen in love. Her characters are so real to me I expect them to just come to life and jump off the page. From the emotions and raging hormones, the cliques and banter and I've asked myself more than once "was I like that in high school"? (YEAH). Each book starts where the previous book ends and it is a seamless flow to the story. With Ms. Casts 12 book contract, I wonder where this is going next!! Thanks P.C. and Kristen for the great books and thanks to Audible for bringing them to us.
