Publisher's summary

Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams: Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen.…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls - a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just "troubled". Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side - learning to harness their powers, control their magic, and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart. Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear - Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs.…

Interesting take on a well chewed story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes if they are craving Twilight/Harry Potter type listen. Also Its fine for a $4.95 sale. The downside is, as a YA story there is an insufferable amount of whining that bogs the story down at times. Not sure whining was out of place for a YA story. Not sure I would spend full credits on future stories in this series if the whining doesn't shrink its percentage of the overall story.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It is unclear what type of supernatural the heroine is going to be identified is the most interesting and how it is laid out in the story.

The least interesting is the repetitiveness of the whining and navel lint gazing that occurs.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

It was satisfactory.

Could you see Born at Midnight being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Depends on where the story goes, its too early to say at book 1.

Great series

Very good series. Without giving away too much I will say that this has many twists, a nice love story that will surely continue in the rest of the books and the narrator does a better job than most at differentiating voices for characters.

Interesting with only a little angst

I enjoyed this one. Not entirely sure I am ready for the next in the series yet. That probably means it was just O.K.

Good but not great.

Any additional comments?

At 28 I can throw down teen novels like the best of em and not flinch. I can enjoy the creativity and escape of just a fun YA book. This book has strong characters, strong morals and I don't even mind the plot. However I found it much harder to get sucked in by than most Ya books. This is a perfect book if you are 14, 15 or maybe 16 but older than that and don't think it has enough to offer the reader. Its too shallow and lacks depth and creativity albeit pleasantly done.

So disappointed by narration

I sit here just flabbergasted by how horrid I find the narration of this book. It has ruined the experience of this spellbinding series. From here her dry mouth snack, complete lack of enthusiasm to her awful attempt at character voices. I love this book series. If the summary speaks to you, if you are a fan of supernaturals I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Please though read it for yourself so you can capture the joy of it. Don't let this terrible narration put you off a hidden gem

Adventurous & Sweet

This storyline is interesting and sweet, with characters that have believable emotions. I've listened through book 5 and highly recommend the series. The characters develop over time, grow and do some soul searching. I'd guess this is for a younger audience, and I find it refreshing that much of the internal dialogue is spent examining why someone is feeling a particular way, then really thinking through their actions, past and future, and the effect they will have on others as well as themselves. Very good. Lots of possible futures. Waiting for the next book.(I don't usually take the time to rate books, but this one is worth it)

These books have carried me through hard times

I relate to this series so much and know them word for word, thank you so much for having this series available on audible! I have dyslexia and have benefited so much from this series and this app.

Captivating

Good narration. Excellent story. Some mystery was easy to figure out but the story took unexpected turns and kept me very interested.
