Publisher's summary

The first book in the instant New York Times best-selling gothic fantasy series; a modern paranormal romance set against the gothic backdrop of an isolated southern town.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever. Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met.

When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them. In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

Addicting

If you could sum up Beautiful Creatures in three words, what would they be?

Intriguing,exciting,intoxicating

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lena. She was at crossroads in her life and was a beautiful creature

What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?

I thought he did an excellent job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought it was very well thought out. a few comic breaks but mostly was suspenseful

Beautiful Creatures

What made the experience of listening to Beautiful Creatures the most enjoyable?

While iI enjoyed this first book in the series, I'm becoming bored with the paranormal genre. They all seem the same. Boy meets Girl, one of them "has a secret life",they fight to be together, etc, etc.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Marian the Librarian was such a surprise character. Macon Ravenwood came across as a cartoon character.

What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?

The narrator did a good job, but with most narrators, they just don't hit the opposite sex spot-on.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

If you liked Twilight . . .

Any additional comments?

I love the freedom of Audible books. I love to read and with Audible I can "read" in the car or waiting to pick up the Grands from school, even grocery shopping!

Better then the movie!!!

This is the 2nd time I've read this book, and let me tell you it was better then I remembered. I also love the fact that it read by a male, not many books are and it truly makes a difference. #betterthenthemovie

You will either Love or Hate this.

I recently watched some movie previews for Beautiful Creatures and figured I would give this book a go. First off this book is geared towards young adults and is a paranormal love story taking place in a southern small town with lots of Civil War era history thrown in. This book is a little different then some of your other young love stories, because it is told in the point of view of a 16 year old male. If you are a fan books like Twilight then this might be a book for you. This book follows the same sort of storyline (We want to be together, but we can't be together. And like all young love it is be all end all.)

IF YOUR A GUY READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

I am a Father of 4 children that are always getting different books on here. I have the great job of reading the actual book or listening to the book before hand to make sure its appropriate. First of all, I did not have great expectations for this book, BUT, WOW!!! If you are a boy and you are in Jr High/High School...READ THIS BOOK!!! This is a love story where two people meet and it might be love at first sight but let me tell you, it is not easy. I could easily identify with the main characters anxiety, fear, just the constant thought of wondering if the person you have so much feelings for is thinking the same thing as you are. The authors do a wonderful job in creating an atmosphere that put me back in high school with all the tremendous character development. I HAD to get all three books and find out if this love story was going to work out. TRUST ME...this is like nothing you have read before. Don't give up, just read or listen on and you will love this book. A real love story with supernatural elements in it. I cant say enough about this book. GET IT and you can thank me later.

Nice Young Adult Adventure

I listened to this one well past my commute and on the weekends becaue I wanted to see what happened. As others have said, it was a fresh perspective from the male point of view.

Lots of goof stuff ging on here, a little history, little soul mate idea, and a little magic rolled together with Southern "charm" (and sometimes not so charming.) The characterizations were well done and well rounded.

The narration was quite good as well. Yes, it got little cheesy at times, but it's young adult andI think at 16 we all felt that our first love was the end all be all of the universe, so it works.

Bottom line was it was really a good listen. Oh, and this one had some sound effects thrown in so it was a nice change of pace.

I CAN & DO recommend this book!

I didn't mind the music or sound effects. I think it added to the story. The narration was spot on. I can't wait to get to the next book!
Thanks Jules :)
