Publisher's summary

She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

Amazing

What did you love best about Alice in Zombieland?

I actually liked just about everything about this. It had its slow moments but the narration, story, characters were all great. It was a bit predictable but I really would like to see a second book continue the story.

What did you like best about this story?

The modern setting and twist they put on zombies was quite good. It wasn't what you traditionally know about zombies which was nice.

Any additional comments?

I feel the association with Alice in Wonderland is a bit of a stretch. While I am aware that the idea of "Underland" is open to be interpreted and told many ways and does not have to follow an AiW theme it still just in no way resembled a trip to an alternate universe through a rabbit hole. I see where the attempt to make the connection was but I just feel that the title is a bit misleading as a fan of Underland stories. But as a stand alone book was well worth the listen and I strongly recommend.

A Unique Theme in the Zompoc Genre

Any additional comments?

My daughter loved this book so I had to check it out. What an interesting take on the whole zombie idea. I did enjoy the story, but I think I’ve been reading a little too much YA lately because it didn’t keep my interest as much as I was expecting. I did enjoy it enough that I plan to check out the next book at some point.

Drama, Violence, and Zombies, Oh My!

This was a very enjoyable listen. Although it was a little bit slow to begin with, as soon as the action starts you will get sucked right in. Gena Showalter has put such a wonderful twist on this classic tale, and has created a story that will have you dying for more.

Surprisingly Good!

I've been a Gena Showalter fan for a long time, but avoided this book at first due to the title. I wasn't really interested in revisiting Wonderland from a Zombie's perspective so I waited for the reviews to start trickling in. The initial reviews were better than average so I made the plunge and have not been disappointed.

An addition to Showalter's Young Adult repertoire, I found "Alice" more enjoyable than the Intertwined saga, in character development and plot. This is NO revisit to Wonderland, but a well-written story of courage and loss. Sure, the teenagers all seem to have super-skills and I DID ask myself a time or two, "Where is this place where there never seem to be adults where they need to be?", but it wasn't over-the-top.

Definitely one worth having!

Loved it

While it doesn’t really follow in line as much as I thought it would with Alice in Wonderland, I still loved it. Two of my favorites stuck together, the craziness of Alice in Wonderland and add zombies. Wonderfully written and performance and story telling was spot on.
If your a zombie fan or Alice in Wonderland fan this is a great read/listen! I actually liked it so much I finished it in just 2days.

New Twist on Zombies!

This book was a fun and new way to look at Zombies. I really liked Natalie Gold's performance and would love to listen to any other books that she reads in the future. I love Zombie books, because they're just so scary and exciting that I'm surprised it took me this long to find this series. I liked the new twist that the Zombies had. Alice was a fun character and I really enjoyed her point of view. Some of the other characters were sassy and somewhat cocky but it was very entertaining.

What a surprise!

I didn't expect to like this. I thought it would be juvenile and boring. I knew the author was popular, but I didn't expect to like the writing style because I had tried another of her books and didn't like it. But this was WOW! I didn't want to stop listening. It was so interesting and kept me hooked to my Kindle for ungodly amounts of time. My only issue was that the title and cover gave Alice in Wonderland vibes, and I could see the Alice in Wonderland theme in the chapter titles and the white cloud rabbit, but it had nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland. The theme seemed completely irrelevant and was vague at best, so why bother with it? However, regardless of that bit, I loved the book. Debating on whether or not to continue though because I need a break from the intensity and it was long.
