Publisher's summary

Sure, I might be a low elf. But that doesn't mean I won't get up to high jinks.

Daisy Carter knows she's not anyone special. She might be brave and resourceful. She might possess a touch more magic than your average low elf. But, when it comes down to it, she's just another delivery driver trying to make a living. Admittedly, life would be easier without her addiction to a dangerous drug called spider's silk—but she's got her reasons for that. Nobody's perfect.

However, Daisy's world changes when she crosses paths with Hugo Pemberville, the celebrated high elf who's well known for being an accomplished treasure hunter. He's also an arrogant idiot who deliberately destroys Daisy's life.

Before she knows it, she's thrust into a treasure hunting adventure that she could never have dreamed of.

Daisy is determined to succeed, even if only to show Hugo that he's not as good as he thinks he is. But treasure hunting is more difficult and more dangerous than she'd expected. And Hugo is more annoying, more skilled—and, damn him, more alluring as well.

The Start of Another Amazing Helen Harper Series!

I might sound a little biased but honestly this new series just solidifies what I already knew…Helen Harper is QUEEN!

Tattered Huntress is just brilliant. Harper has a true gift for mixing the magical and the mundane. I honestly wish I could live in these worlds she creates.

Just pick up the book and thank me later!

Loved it!

Tattered Hundreds
By Helen Harper
I really enjoyed this book! Our gal of the story is a low elf, minor magic power, and a delivery driver. She is also takes an illegal drug called spider web to keep her magic in check because it is so uncontrollable. She doesn't take it for the thrill. But a high elf noticed she used it and got her fired. So she decided to try to find the treasure he was looking for. What a wild ride! Fun, crazy, and exciting! Can't wait for the next book!
Great narration!

The Great Treasure Hunt

I love Helen Harper and her characters. This book has great dialogue, an exciting and dangerous treasure hunt and a lot of interesting characters. She knows how to build a story and draw you in, but still keep the characters believable. You like them while hating their flaws, but they also grow. They are not one dimensional, good vs. evil - they learn and change without losing their strength. I also love the strong females in these books like Daisy in this book, Emma in Firebrand and Integrity in the Highland Magic series or Ivy in Slouch Witch.
Daisy is a great with people (supernatural or not) - she truly cares about them and, through her tenacity, knowledge of the area and ability to relate to people, she puts the clues together to be a real challenge in the hunt. No one expects a low elf with no credentials to be in the running for the prize(s) -multiple clues to find to get to the finish line.
That said, Daisy and Hugo reminded me too much of Integrity and Byron and of Ivy and Raphael. There is a similar dynamic between the characters and the high born and low born aspect, the tension. The competition is NOT the same, but it had the feel of the Honour Bound competition. The underdog with her wits and cast of helpers fights to prove herself to arrogant and some corrupt people. I loved Integrity and her friends and Daisy has that same feel, but there were several points where I thought, "That's right out of Honour Bound." Been there, done that.
This is a good story with a great cast of characters and I want to read the second book to see what happens, but I only gave this a 4 because it felt like the first part of this story has already been told. I want Emma in Firebrand back - I personally loved the unique mysteries in each book that had to be solved rather than this type of chase to prove her worth. Just my opinion.
(And I love Ruth Urquhart as narrator!)
