Publisher's summary

Wrench is a Fixer.

Someone born to maintain, fix, and correct any and every issue that could go wrong in the habitat he lives in. Someone who makes sure he and his fellow humans can remain on display and entertain their owners as any good human pet would.

At least, that’s what he was born to be.

He’s taken a different route and joined a resistance faction to help free humanity to become more than just pets to an alien race.

Now at the end of his life, and realizing what a waste all his effort has been, Wrench finds himself given a chance to go back to his youth and relive his life.

He’s going to be granted a superpower: the ability to alter anything and everything regarding his own body, from forcing his body to heal faster to speeding up his perception of time so that everything runs in slow motion.

That power comes with a price tag, of course: a favor in the distant future for the man giving him his do-over.

Accepting the deal, since being alive is far more beneficial than being dead, Wrench is thrown back into the past to live his life all over again, in whatever way he sees fit—whether it be rejoining the resistance, living as a Fixer and taking a leadership role, or just finding a wife and having kids.

Or utilizing his newfound superpower to alter anything and everything about his body’s systems to become something completely different.

Regardless of whatever choice he makes, though, he’s got a lot of things to fix. Good thing he’s well suited to fixing problems.

After all, most issues only need a great deal of violence to be solved. Wrench has lots of that in his toolbox to go around.

my new favorite

Can't wait to see where this goes or who the space man at the beginning was. Have theories but time will tell.

It's different than expected

The narrator really came into her own with this one. She made these characters unique.

Can't wait for the next book

This author is one of my favorite and it is always a pleasure to listen to the books he writes. I enjoy the shared universe that he made and this seems like a very interesting addition to it.

Pretty Good

So it was surprisingly good, really enjoyed it. Give it a listen. Do not want to write anything else. I really miss being able to just rate by stars. But seriously it’s a good book, well written great narration.

A future tech Runner world

I enjoyed the story. Towards the end of the book he seems to lose his ideals. There is even one point where he says he is going to do something and the very next sentence he did not stick to it. But an enjoyable story and world in Runner's universes.

Also far more crossover people references.

interesting read, I hope to see where it goes.

I dont have many complaints for this book. The performance was spot on and the characters solid.
I didn't like the fact that the schools were the way they were but I guess that's just how it is.
The fact that Dusky is the way she is is sad though. Even Seventh, not capable of having a relationship while stripe is is odd. I hope the reason why the different casts act the way they do would be explained. You would think that the school cast would be more interested in a relationship with emotion than the solo [Stripe] for example.
Good story and looking forward to more in the future.

Fives

This was a fun new series from someone who writes better than decent stories.
I also enjoyed the narrator; clear differences in characters, and voice intonations for each of them.

I'm not sure if this series will tie in with the rest but regardless, it's worth the read.
