Treasure maps marked with an X, schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and peglegged sailors with parrots on their shoulders: All these stereotypes of the buccaneer tale were the invention of R. L. Stevenson. But make no mistake about it...this novel is a masterpiece of plot development, character study, and sheer writing skill.

Would prefer a male narrator
Enjoyed the story, of course, and the narrator did a good job. However, since the story was told by the father, it was a little confusing to hear it in a female voice.
