Publisher's summary

Robbie Jordan's rustic country store is growing in popularity. But when a dead body appears, it turns out that Robbie's home-style cooking attracts hungry customers - and murder!

While Robbie scrambles through breakfast orders for her expanding clientele at Pans 'N Pancakes, tempers run as high as the sticky August heat in South Lick, Indiana. Real estate developer Fiona Closs plans to build a towering luxury resort at one of the most scenic hilltops in Brown County, and not everyone can see the sunny side of the imposing proposition - including Robbie's furious Aunt Adele, who doesn't waste a minute concocting protests and road blockades. When tensions boil over and a vocal protester is silenced forever at the resort site, Robbie ditches the griddle to catch the killer. But if slashed tires are any indication, she'll need to crack this case before her own aunt gets served something deadly next....

.

I have enjoyed these books overall. I sometimes have trouble keeping up with who’s who as far as characters that pop in. I appreciate that it doesn’t get wrapped around and lost in a love interest.

Quirky but entertaining.

I like this series by Maddie Day. They give a glimpse of a working woman who has things happen around her work but she doesn't go looking to solve problems as other cozy mysteries tend to do. This was cozy but somewhat believable.
I liked the way the story moved, and the main character, and those who compliment her in the story. This is entertaining and not overly bogged down by too many disconnected side stories.

Strangled eggs & ham review

Funny and not too confusing cozy mystery. Well read with enthusiasm.

Returning characters were brought into the story and developed with new people. Explanations of old details did not overtake the book.

Looking forward to the next story in the series.

Robbie is clueless

I generally like the Country Store mysteries but damn if Robbie’s naïveté annoying. And her sense of entitlement to information is insane.

Murder Capital of Indiana

The bodies keep piling up in South Lick, the murder capital of Indiana. No small town charm and quirky town residents, just death and grief. This series is almost as depressing as the daily news on TV.

It was okay

I’ve enjoyed the series so far but this one was sort of lackluster. Robbie needs to hire more help, it’s tiresome reading the woes of her getting slammed with customers and no one to help because her employees are sick or out. Even part time help is better than getting a reputation for bad customer service.
