Publisher's summary

Learn about the history and philosophy of Stoicism - and how to apply its principles to your everyday life.

The ancient philosophy of Stoicism is currently experiencing somewhat of a revival in 21st-century popular culture, mainly because of its rational and logical approach to the challenges of our time. There has been a proliferation of Stoic references in modern movies and fiction, further increasing its popularity among a younger section of society that would normally not be interested in an apparently pure academic pursuit such as the study of philosophy.

This audiobook will provide you, the prospective student of Stoic philosophy, with a broader understanding of the people and forces that combined to create one of the most enduring and influential philosophies of all time.

Furthermore, we’ll explore how you can apply Stoic principles to your everyday life - and how this will help you develop your character, stay calm in the face of adversity, and achieve greater success in your life.

During the course of this audiobook, you will learn about:

  • The origins of Stoicism
  • Zeno of Citium and the first school of Stoicism
  • Seneca the Younger
  • Epictetus and the discourses
  • The meditations of Marcus Aurelius
  • Stoicism’s influence on Roman life and thought
  • Stoic philosophy today
  • Applying Stoic principles to your everyday life
  • And more!

Begin your journey to Stoic mastery!

amazing

There are several books that attempt to introduce stoicism but miss the mark. After listening this book you will have a great understanding to the Greek schools of thought and feel much more comfortable diving deeper in philosophy.

Well organized and well narrated

The book summarizes the basic guiding principles and beliefs of Wicca, and provides some historic background from old pagan beliefs. The author truly intended the book for solitary practitioners, so he leaves a lot of leeway for one's interpretation of Wicca and provides some direct examples of rituals from his own practice

awesome. I really enjoyed it

I enjoyed a more simple approach to the subject and in particular the section on the history of stoicism. it was a great basic lesson on the history of stoic thought but also outlined the major tenets of the philosophy. would recommend.

Good introduction.

This book is well worth a couple of bucks, but don't spend a full credit on it! It's extremely short and concise. All in all it gave me even more interest in the topic an gave me a couple ways to practice it.

Great insights, valuable experience.

The author is extremely clear and in my case, it was almost as he was anticipating the critical ideas that popped in my mind when reading. I had a mild interest in these ideas before listening this book, but my interest and the applicability of these ideas to my life have become much more apparent after listening this book!
