Publisher's summary

Air Force wife Ellie Avery is so good at organizing she's turned pro. But when a fellow military wife turns up dead, Ellie tackles a different type of case - murder....

Ellie Avery balances motherhood, marriage, and her own business - Everything in Its Place - with cheerful efficiency. A maestro of organization, she sees her life as an easy checklist that does not include the untimely death of Penny Follette.

Unlike the police, Ellie isn't convinced Penny's death was suicide. But it's an uphill battle getting the officials to take her seriously. Then another spouse is strangled, and someone tries to poison an outspoken female Air Force pilot. Poking about in closets and peeking through drawers, Ellie hopes to find the common thread tying the crimes together. With her husband, Mitch, about to be deployed in the "sandbox" (that's the Mideast for us civvies), she wants some quality time with her significant other. As the schedule tightens and the mystery heightens, Ellie's out to prove that home is not for killers!

One issue

Love the series but only critic is the readers voice goes loud and quiet, so I had to keep changing the volume.

We’re addicted to this author and to this narrator!

Don’t miss this entire series! We’ve listened to each Ellie Avery mystery more than five times and have been telling our friends! Sara Rosett’s stories never disappoint, and her writing is sheer art as she draws us in to each expertly navigated Ellie adventure ~ AND each whodunit in this series is never reiterative ~ always a fresh case, with plenty of ‘I did NOT see that coming!’ Her characters are realistic and believable and human, and Ellie’s situations are incredibly realistic, as well. **Gail Shalan’s narrations in this series are peerless!** ~ SO believable, appropriate to each character, and never hackneyed or caricatured. Her voice work is the perfect art for the author’s. And (this is not a spoiler), as the series goes on, Gail must voice the children, who are growing up, and it’s always realistic and never cloying ~ and it’s downright adorable. Her narration, and voicing of these characters, will bring you back again and again!

4 and a half

I gave this series another chance because I like Sara Rosett's other books. I'm glad I did. This book was a lot better than the first book. The plot is entertaining and Ellie's character is more engaging. I look forward to the next book.

No more

I’ve liked Sara’s stories except for the heroine’s penchant for not sharing evidence with police officers and “I wanted to ask you a few questions.” Tiring.
