The wrestling legend Bob "Hardcore" Holly tells all in this autobiography that chronicles his journey from fighting in bars for money to the bright lights of the World Wrestling Federation. Holly reveals how he took more body slams and clotheslines outside the ring than in and that long before he was known as "Hardcore Holly", he had an unquenchable passion for professional wrestling.
Ultimately, Holly would hold the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hardcore Championship seven times, the WWE Tag Team Championship three times, and the National Wrestling Alliance World Tag Team Championship once. But in the midst of his career achievements was a roller coaster of success and frustration, and Holly reveals the plethora of missed opportunities and broken promises that marked his road to television stardom. Replete with fast motorcycles, faster cars, wrestling bears, betrayal, and lost love, Holly shares his uncompromised view of his past and the current state of professional wrestling.

The narrator spoke clearly and was not monotone, by any means. The story was great. As others have noted, after reading this, I also felt bad as Hardcore was shafted by the WWE many times but he stayed loyal to Vince & Co. Hardcore was very entertaining in his storytelling and recalled events in his past with great detail. I had a feeling this was going to be good, but it was better than I anticipated! Great book, Hardcore!
This was a great wrestling book full of great stories. I have a huge deal of respect after hearing this book. My only regret is wishing I could of saw him wrestle at a live event. It's a shame they never pushed him to his potential because I know he would of got over. His heart and passion for the business would of gotten him over alone. I've been watching his matches on the WWE network lately. I hope to see him again in the WWE doing something with them because he deserves it.
I've lost count of how many times I've read the physical copy & now the audio version! Cover to cover, intro to exit, this is easily one of (if not thee) greatest professional wrestling books one could be in possession of. As a devoted supporter of Bob for many years & throughout the everlasting future, himself along with the ever-so uber talented Ross Williams produced a product that evokes a plethora of emotions. It fuels frustration, amplifies positivity, promotes intellect, tugs on the heart strings and so much more. Neither a review, recommendation, Tweet, share nor anything else of that nature can do this book justice. Enlighten yourself, formulate your own views on Bob and the book itself, purchase it either physical or audio (better yet, both!)... while you're at it, pick up his shirts over at Pro-Wrestling Tees' website!
I only have one slight snag in regards to this Audible publication. I had my hopes that Bob himself would've been the narrator, but, I understand the many aspects that prevented that. Nevertheless, the narrator did an impeccable job.
Truly deserving of 5 stars all round!
I'd long disliked Hardcore Bob Holly because I'd perceived him as a wrestling bully who spent his career as a mid-carder. After this, I see Bob Howard as a man who truly loved and cared for his business and only ever worked to protect it. I wouldn't want to get in the ring him, but he's a good guy who offers GREAT insight into the Attitude Era and beyond. This is awesome!
I'm so happy to have listened to Bobs book. As he says he's been labeled by the Internet and never heard his side...until now. I have a ton respect for him and hearing his story.
I was always a fan of Bob's, from the cheesy NASCAR gimmick up until his departure and I'm glad that he wrote this book. Bob strikes me as a man that tells the truth and doesn't care what you think.....to him the truth is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts so suck it up. Bob 'Hardcore Holly' Howard is a hard working man that prides himself on his abilities and ethics and that comes across in this book. His stories of his life in the WWF/E are raw and honest, and his insights into the business are spot on. Love him or hate him....Hardcore tells you how it is.
I wasn't sure I'd like this as I never had a strong opinion of Hardcore Holly either way. But I really enjoyed this book.
"One of the most honest wrestling biographies"
Brutally honest, Bob Holly just tells it as he sees it without treading on eggshells. He respects the reader/listeners' intelligence & covers so many aspects of wrestling history as seen from his perspective - including the kliq, Montreal screw job, the Owen & Benoit tragedies, steroid use & gives his side of Internet rumours of him being a bully. A great read for any WWE smark even if you were never a big Bob Holly fan.
Straight up honesty from Bob Holly. Really interesting and doesn't get bogged down in unnecessary details, just sticks to what the reader is going g to be interested in.
"Best wrestling biography"
I've read a few wrestler's stories but this is the best so far. An enthralling insight into the 15 year career of a WWE superstar who was never allowed to achieve his true potential.
