Publisher's summary

Are you divorcing someone who's making the process as difficult as possible? Are they sending you nasty emails, falsifying the truth, putting your children in the middle, abusing you, or abusing the system? Are they "persuasive blamers", manipulating and fooling court personnel to get them on their side? If so, you need this book.

Splitting is an essential legal and psychological guide for anyone divorcing a persuasive blamer: someone who suffers from borderline personality disorder (BPD), narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), and/or antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). This second edition includes new information about antisocial personalities; expanded information about domestic violence, child abuse, alienation, and false allegations; how to approach protective orders and deal with child custody disputes; and a new chapter on how to successfully present your case to decision makers.

Turn to this guide to help you:

  • Predict what your spouse may do or say in court
  • Take control of your case with assertiveness and strategic thinking
  • Choose a lawyer who understands your case
  • Learn how emails and social networking can be used against you

I wish I knew sooner!

Upon completion, I realized that this was published after my divorce with a person that exhibited patterns of a PD (specifically NP and maybe ASP). I'm currently preparing for a post-divorce modification, and all of the information is extremely helpful in advocating for myself and being assertive instead of passive this time. I will note that there is a lot of emphasis on potential physical and verbal abuse in this edition, but there's not much mention of other, more subtle abuses such as emotional and financial. To protect children and targets, this training would be helpful in the form of CLEs for family law professionals since the presence of PD patterns are increasingly prevalent.

Very honest, educational and to the point. I suspect my soon to be ex is struggling with NPD with some signs of BPD as well. He’s very persuasive this book teaches you to play the long game and be strategic assertive and wise while trying to get you and your children as close to freedom as possible.

Best divorce prep for anyone married to an NPD!

This book is filled with hard to hear information, but if you are divorcing someone with these traits, it will absolutely prepare you for what to expect. I’m pregnant with my fifth child and I said “no way would he do this to me”….yep, he did. You need to listen to this so you understand what your Blamer is capable of.
