Publisher's summary

Your voice matters, especially as a leader.

Every day, you have an opportunity to use your voice to have a positive impact - at work or in your community. You can inspire and persuade your audience - or you can distract and put them to sleep.

Nervous, rambling robotic - these presentation styles can ruin a talk on even the most critical topics. And with each weak performance, career prospects dim.

To get ahead and make an impact, you need to deliver well-crafted messages with confidence and authenticity. You must sound as capable as you are.

Public speaking is a skill, not a talent. With the right guidance, anyone can be a powerful speaker. Learn to conquer fear, capture attention, motivate action, and take charge of your career with Speak with Impact. Written and narrated by opera singer turned CEO, speaker, and executive communication coach Allison Shapiro, this audiobook unravels the mysteries of commanding attention in any setting, professional or personal.

Whether it’s speaking up at a meeting, presenting to clients, or talking to large groups, the audiobook’s easy-to-use frameworks, examples, and exercises help you:

  • Kick-start the creative process
  • Compose a clear and concise message
  • Engage your audience through storytelling and humor
  • Banish filler words and uptalk
  • Strengthen and project your voice
  • Use breathing techniques to overcome stage fright
  • Use effective body language
  • Build your executive presence
  • Deliver presentations with confidence and authenticity

When you know what to say and how to say it, people listen. Find your powerful voice...and step into leadership. Speak with impact.

This Book is Amazing!!!

Speak with Impact is filled with practical advice stemming from interesting stories of the authors life and lessons she learned in her public speaking career. These stories give examples of how and why the advice works while at the same time keeping your full attention after hearing each story I was eager to apply the advice and couldn't wait to hear where her life went next that would lead to her next lesson. This book is a must read for all who want improve in public speaking.

Great for any type of Speech

beginner level tips to advance. Easy for anyone to understand. Great listen also the speaker aka the author is very well spoken and easy to understand very soothing voice but still loud enough to hear while doing the dishes with it on speaker. Her voice stays with you for days which is very nice so that you actually learn what she is teaching because you remember. Anyways very great listen enjoy.

Decent pubic speaking primer

Although not perfect, this has some solid advice for beginning public speakers. I may recommend it to people working on improving their public speaking skills.

How we speak matters! Fabulous Book!!!

I'd give this book more than five stars if I could!!! I loved the flow of the book, the tips and exercises, and Allison's stories that bring the material to life. It's fun to find something unexpected in a business or leadership book, and I found several surprise moments in this one. From the segment on how to moderate a panel, to tips based on voice exercises from a trained opera singer, I was always entertained and learning.

The audible version (which is the one I read) is stunning! Allison has a rich voice and engaging delivery that leaves the listener certain that they picked the right book to learn how to "Speak With Impact"!

A Waste of Time

This book is a waste of my time and money. This book is about how great toast master is, which is an organization where the author is a president for. Throughout this book, the author keeps saying, if you want to know more about "this," then visit chapter 2, if you want to know more about "that," than visit chapter 5, if you want to learn "these," then visit chapter 7, if you want to learn "those," then go to this website, if you want to know more about these, then go visit this and this and this website. The author wrote this book to promote her other works. Did not enjoy it.

Could use editting

Repetition is a good teaching technique, but can be overused. Repeating the take away is useful. Repeating filler and fluff just adds to the length. This could have been three fourths the length. In that case it would be easier to really remember what was covered at the beginning.
