Publisher's summary

I used to think the Reaper was just a myth. Then, I found out where she lives.

When our vampire friend, Nora, reaches out for help, what choice do I have but to try? At least that’s what I tell myself when I open a doorway into an unfamiliar realm—the result being that I reunite Nora with her long-dead vampire lover. Kind of weird, I know, but that’s not the problem.

Instead, it’s that way more than one vampire soul comes along for the ride. Apparently, being dead didn’t mean they weren’t dying to escape from where they were being held. What I can't escape is the feeling that something not very nice is bound to be right behind them.

While I'd love for that to be my biggest headache, it is far from it. Zachary and the Purebloods remain very much still out there, conspiring to bring the Shadow Order down. Their new secret weapon takes the form of Silas, a rogue Veil Witch who, until now, has been kept locked up with his magic bound. Given that he’s regained the power to teleport wherever he pleases while summoning demons (no relation to me, I swear), Cassie may have finally met her match. Given that she's the strongest witch among us, this doesn't bode well. Add to that, vampires and werewolves suddenly start turning up dead. We have no idea why, until we witness the arrival of a new supernatural entity entirely.

And there we were thinking the Reaper was just a myth. Not so, although her mission is way different than anything we could have expected. Now, if we don’t help her see it through, we might have a supernatural war on our hands. The problem being, the same could happen if we do.

Another action packed story

Let me start by saying that the narrator did a great job with the characters. There is no shortage of action, mystery, suspense, betrayal, revenge, enemies, friends and lovers when it comes to this series and this book was no different. In this story lovers reunite, a wrong move must be righted, and the balance must be maintained, old enemies that were once detained makes another appearance trying to cause more havoc and Jared is still up to his antics. The list goes on and on which makes for one interesting story. Cassie is still having nightmares when it comes to fairie but she's not the only one. Sophie gains another trick up her sleeve which leads to laugh out loud moments in this story. Beatrice must once again face those who betrayed her but she's not alone. The story ends with suspense, leaving me wondering what will happen next. I'm definitely excited to find out in the next audiobook in this series.

Hey Hollywood, Check this out!

Hollywood should really look into this series! Instead of recycling and reshooting movies, this would give them a new blockbuster! I
would honestly give this more than five stars if I could. I love the world and the characters. This far in the series they feel like old friends.

Another great addition to the series!

Another adventure in the Crossroads Witch series that does not disappoint. Full of continued world and character building, Amaya and her cohorts face challenges of spirit, wolf and vampire interactions and trying to avoid an all out war. I love all their magics, personalities, and confidence each one displays in true hero fashion! Kudos to J.S. Malcolm whose skill of crafting the story where we can feel the evil intentions of the villains and the true grit of the main characters, pulls you into the story and doesn't let go, making it hard to stop reading or listening until the end. Well written and the narrator to the audio book does a good job overall, but mispronounces the word Samhain, (should be pronounced SAH-win) which for an avid reader of paranormal and fantasy, was a bit disappointing.

Another amazing listen

I read the book and loved it. Hearing it just seems to bring it to life. Amy does an amazing job narrating and bring the characters to life. I love all the characters and all their idiosyncrasies. I love Cassie’s warped sense of humor. I hope there are more books to come with these characters.

What scares supernaturals? Here's your answer.

Wow! Amy Hall does a fantastic job with all of the various characters in this story. I'm always amazed at how she keeps them all sounding unique and recognizable even during the action scenes. I am always so excited when another book comes out from J.S. Malcom and this is no exception. It's the characters that really make these books, and it doesn't hurt that there's a wide variety of supernatural creatures to create tension as well. The characters are complex, with lots of baggage, but try their best to do the right thing. They feel like family at this point. These are people I want to go hang out and have a beer with. Watching them interact with each other feels like watching my favorite sitcom. This time we get the return of the baddies, all banded together, to create the most havoc imaginable. There's some really ingenious solutions to the problems the gang is facing and we get to see them really work together to fix things. There are some serious, suspenseful moments but then come some of the best comedic scenes I've ever read in a book. I read this book in one sitting as soon as I got my grubby little hands on it. And that Reaper really is the coolest thing I've read about in quite a while.
