Publisher's summary

Jen Minkman was born in the Netherlands in 1978. Although she has always written stories in Dutch, the poems and lyrics she writes are almost exclusively in English.

The aborigines of Australia use Dreaming tracks or Songlines to find their way across vast expanses of land. Words in these songs describe natural landmarks originally created by the gods in song, and the songs must be sung regularly in order to keep the land alive. Likewise, the poems in this audiobook mark my walk of life and should be listened to in order to keep my soul alive and help me find my way.

beautiful poems

I thought that the poems were beautiful, some I liked more than others. They are not very long, which is great for me. Very profound, full of imagery and very relatable. Would recommend to those who like poetry.

21 short, concise and intense poems.

Any additional comments?

Songlines by Jen Minkman is a nice collection of 21 poems, each of which with a distinct theme or purpose. They range from love to religion, and are short, concise and intense. I couldn't help but be drawn into the spirituality of this collection. My favorite was "Testament" because of the emotions that were evoked from its words - I listened to it several times.

Tiffany Williams did an excellent job narrating. She had great cadence and warmth. Her smooth voice was perfect for providing the perfect platform for each poem's imagery.

I recommend Songlines to anyone who enjoys poetry, as well as those who want a short respite from reading/listening to novels.

Beautiful and Heartfelt!

I read poetry a lot, having a daughter who writes poetry. My daughter writes a variety of different types of poetry. I've learned from my daughter that writing poetry is away to let things out.

My daughter and I both listened to Songlines together. We both really enjoyed the narrator Tiffany Williams as she read the poems. We both thoroughly found the poems entertaining. My daughter even loved the way Jen Minkman arranged her poems. My daughter's first poetry book isn't written and put together in such a way that every poem flowed and blended together.

I understand that each poem was individually written but the way they were written and arranged is perfect. The poems were short but extremely beautiful. I felt each poem held a meaning to me, some more than others. I feel every single person that reads or listens to Songlines will be touched in some way. Every poem will reach someone, everyone will find at least one poem that will hold some meaning to them. You'll find yourself listening or reading them over and over again. These poems truly are a journey that will take you anywhere. I especially loved the poem her dad wrote for her as a wedding gift, well on her wedding day, I have to say that's a gift that she'll have forever. I also see your poetry Jen Minkman giving my daughter inspiration and inspiring her to change the way she writes poetry or puts it together. If it does, I'll make sure that she adds your name to one of her poetry books or a book that she writes. She also writes and she just turned 17 years old. I really loved these poems and I recommend anyone that loves poetry or even if you don't you should get this. It's well worth the listen and I believe anyone who listens or even reads them will fall in love with them all.
