Publisher's summary

They slime, they ooze, they kill....

One female slug can lay one and half million eggs a year, a fact which holds terrifying consequences for the people of Merton. As the town basks in the summer heat, a new breed of slug is growing and multiplying. In the waist-high grass, in the dank, dark cellars, they are acquiring new tastes, new cravings. For blood. For flesh. Human flesh....

Classic horror story

Simple, but masterful storytelling. Whoever thought slugs could be so horrifying! The narrator brought the characters to life though the pace at times was slow as far as narration. Overall, the narrator did an excellent, excellent job. The story is well written and easy to follow with some truly horrific moments. Very well done indeed.

Writhing Nightmare

This book is the stuff of nightmares and will definitely trigger a new fear. Large slugs invade a small town with a taste for blood and flesh, and we are on the menu. People are getting sick, dying, and being devoured, but who's going to believe the health inspector and a sewer cleaner about giant slugs. Will anyone survive? Will they be able to kill the slugs before they decimate the towns population? Will the slugs be able to relocate? The questions are many, but you need to listen/read the book, no spoilers, but you won't be disappointed. Simon Aitchison did a superb job bringing this creepy story alive. This is my honest, unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own free will.

An absolute blast!

I’ve been a fan of the movie since I was little and recently learned of the book. This year I’m trying to find books with movies based on them (or vice versa) and avoiding the obvious entries by King or Koontz. I was extremely pleased to find this title available on Audible. The story itself was fast paced, well written, and engaging throughout. The only downside was the narrator… and it wasn’t necessarily a downside as it were. He did a fantastic job with some appropriate sound effects and voice changes that worked great. The problem was he reads slowly, with a deep and comforting tone that made me think more of a grandfather spinning a bedtime yarn that made me want to go to sleep. I listened at 1.4x to counter this while still being able to enjoy the quality storytelling

All you could possibly want in old time horror

Loved this book, it took me back to the days of late night " horror " films. Well done to both writer and of course the narrator who obviously worked as a team to produce such a work as is rarely generated in this genre.
Highly recommended.
