Publisher's summary

An unknown danger lurks beneath the sand at a secluded beach. A couple encounters a deadly creature during their nighttime dive. A father fights to save his daughter from a harrowing nightmare. A newlywed’s honeymoon is interrupted by the apocalypse. A maid discovers a shocking secret at the exclusive resort she works for.

Beach vacations are meant for relaxing and unwinding away from the drudgery of normal life. The sparkling sun, shimmering on cresting waves. A light breeze as you sit with toes in the sand, a cold drink in one hand. Utopia on an island. But what happens when that paradise suddenly becomes a purgatory of pain? What will you do when the beaches fill with bodies and the waters run red with blood? When creatures crawl the coastline and the jungle teems with terror. How will you survive when a tropical respite becomes an arena of peril?

Slice of Paradise is an all-original anthology featuring 15 shocking stories of beach vacation horror. For even more scares, check out the companion anthology, Beach Bodies, from DarkLit Press. Vacation from reality

Really, what is not to love about crystal blue water isolated sandy beaches, and vacationing with your friends? This anthology has it all from well known to new to me authors, from human monsters, to real life bite you up and eat you monsters. One thing in common with these stories, bodies disappear all the time when help is thousands of miles away.

Some short and super short tales of beach horror

A pretty darn good anthology of beach vacation horror!

I received a complimentary audio copy of this release from the publisher but this review is all my own. Thank you, DarkLit Press!!

I'll admit that it took me a while to warm up to the narrator, but after I settled in it was a great ride. I devoured these stories while out in the yard doing a little project and was kept engaged and entertained all the way through.

Oh, The Horrors of Vacations!

SLICE OF PARADISE is a very good collection of dark and unsettling vacation stories. I have to confess that I'm not a huge audiobook fan and that I enjoy reading a book rather than listening, I enjoyed the stories woven into this book. Some of them with some really good imagery that immerses the listener into some fascinating realms. Some of my favorites were HONEYMOON, MISERY GUTS, PARADISE LOST, and OF MURDER AND MERMAIDS were some of my favorites in this anthology.

The narrator, Thomas Gloom, didn't do anything for me as far as his storytelling. I felt like he was a bit over the top and could have pulled back a bit. I find that his exaggerated delivery made listening to this troublesome.

All in all, a good anthology.

Stories were OK, narration was laughable.

Some of the stories were pretty good. Some of them were just so-so. What really got me and will stick with me from this anthology series was the narrator. I don’t know if he was trying to put on a “surfer dude“ air but he missed the mark. it distracted from the stories and was just hard to listen to. With a more competent narrator this could have been a much better listen.
