Publisher's summary

The cast and crew of a hit British TV show is rumored to be cursed—but are these spooky deaths coincidences or murder? It's up to Bath detective Peter Diamond to find out.

Since the start of the hit TV show Swift in 2013, its cast and crew have been plagued by misfortune. First, a star actress pulls out of the show before it begins—and by 2019, there have been multiple injuries by fall, fire, or drowning; two deaths; and two missing persons cases. The popular media around Bath, England, quickly decides it's a curse, but is it as simple as that? Is someone behind these fishy incidents?

Peter Diamond, Chief Superintendent of the Avon and Somerset Murder Squad, is on the case, and he'll start by looking for the two currently missing men. But while the investigation is underway, the producer of the show goes missing, complicating already complex matters even further. Unfortunately, Peter's boss, Georgina, is pushing retirement on him; he may be forced to retire if he can't solve the case. Will this be the end for Peter Diamond?

MWA Grand Master Peter Lovesey's 21st installment in the award-winning series delivers an enticing, fast-paced murder mystery that will leave listeners guessing at every turn.

Great story line, and fabulous characters on Peter Diamond’s team of investigators

Nothing! It was wonderful listening to a great narrator reading a brilliant novel, I’m sad there’s not another to follow

Another Peter Diamond page turner!

Peter Lovesey’s Peter Diamond series is a consistently enjoyable treat — solid mysteries, vivid characters, wit, good writing and good humor to be found in every one. Showstopper is no exception, and the narrator here is superb.

Enjoy. Love. Wonderful

Enjoy this series very much. Love this narrator in everything I’ve heard, Wonderful plot twists and turns. Again I was flabbergasted about the killer and motive.

Suspense and humor.

This was another example of Peter Lovesey's talent. The characters were really interesting and humorous. The story had so many twists and turns I couldn't tell who had done it. The narration was done really well. I would forget that all the talking was by one person. Real talent.

Love the reader

Lovesey books are great fun. They don’t have to lapse into emotionality nor hyper action to entertain. The author introduces eccentric characters and engaging plots with humorous descriptions and voila - another great read.

Wonderful- but just one thing…

Absolutely delightful! But one thing— I’m surprised no one advised James Langton that Candide is pronounced “can - DEED.” That grated throughout—especially when the play was mentioned as the inspiration for the character’s name.

Another enjoyable edition to this series

Love Peter Diamond's team. This particular crime has some interesting twists that I didn't see coming. I was so enjoying the story I forgot to think about clues.

I did not figure this one out.

I'm starting to figure out who the murderers are. But not in this book. I did not figure it out. Much better than book # 20 which I didn't like. It just felt too short. I want more books in this series please
