Publisher's summary

From The New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby comes an all new paranormal romance set in the mystical city of New Orleans.

I am never alone. Not even when I am alone. I see the unquiet dead, the souls that wander through the French Quarter. They can’t move on, and I can’t stop seeing them. I wear malachite for protection, and I control what I let in. It’s the only way to stay sane.

Everything changes the day Cassian Winslow joins my ghost walking tour and knocks my world off its axis with green eyes the color of the stone around my neck. An unspeakable evil is loose in New Orleans, taking young women and leaving a bloodbath in its wake. More shadows lurking for me. More unhappy dead.

There might be a way to stop it.

Open myself up to Cassian.

If I do, it could spell his death. But if I don’t, it’s mine.

Great story for October!

This was a great story to listen to for the month of October. I love all of Kristen Proby's stories and this one did not disappoint. The narration was great. I loved the three part perspective . Lots of twists and turns.

One of the better supernatural books

There had better be a sequel to this book. Cause if not, I will be very disappointed.

Criminal Minds Meet Supernatural-sih with Steam

**Audiobook Review**
I had purchased this audiobook awhile ago because I heard Jason Clarke talking about it on a podcast. I'll be attending a book signing that this author is attending and figured I should bump it up to the top of my TBR. The best way for me to describe this book is kind of Criminal Minds meets Supernatural. There are witches, shadows, apparitions, a profiler, a psychopath, and it all takes place in New Orleans (the perfect backdrop for a story like this). Once the heroine releases who the the villain is, and how the story plays out from there, will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story has dark elements that could potentially be triggering for some.

When I purchased the book I thought it was going to be a standalone, which it is, but it isn't. The villain, played by Jason Clarke, appears to play a role in all three books in the series, but each book focuses on one of three sisters and their respective love match. This was my first Samantha Brentmoor audiobook, and she did an amazing her job as Brielle and I can't what to listen to the other two books. I could listen to this book on repeat based on her accent. Lee Samuels voices the hero, Cash, and in the beginning I expect more of a deep harder voice, for this character, really enjoyed Lee's work.

Great Book!

Kristen Proby sure knows how to write a novel. I love the New Orleans themed books of hers that involve strong gifted women, the paranormal, psychics, witchcraft, etc. She executes the storyline and characters perfectly.

Gripping, Intriguing, and Twisted

I’ve been a long standing fan of Kristen Proby and her romance stories. But OH EMMMM GEEEE! This book was COMPLETELY different from her regular writing. This book was gripping, intriguing, and twisted! While she has dabbled in a bit of New Orleans paranormal in one of her previous books, this book was taken to a whole other level!

I loved the setting and was glad to have been able to see a few cameos from the Boudreaux series. I love that you still were able to have the romance brewing throughout the book. But why, oh WHY are we being tortured with having a cliffy?! I have no patience! I need the rest of this story! NOW!

Spooktaculer!

Wow! Wasn’t expecting this book to be so spooky that I needed the light on LOL! That however only added to the story. Didn’t like that Jason Clarke was the malevolent voice but geez it was the right creep factor. As a horror and romance fan this book was a unique blend, heavier on the horror but still gratifying romance. On to the next book! Although Tim spooked by everything this morning LOL

Storyline

Storyline kept me on end of my chair. Characters likable. Like a little romance thrown in and the New Orleans setting. Will be listening to the next 2 in trilogy.

A new series

I really liked this book about the paranormal. Kristen Proby really writes an interesting story. In it others from her Bayou books are brought into it. I liked seeing how the characters worked together. Brielle is the oldest of three sisters who have magical gifts. She is being stalked by a serial killer but doesn't realize it. Cash takes one of her ghost tours and is instantly drawn to her. He's an FBI profiler given an extended break because of a previous case. He's not sure he believes in Brielle's extraordinary gift but he doesn't run from her. When he finds out that she's in danger, he vows to protect her and get the person stalking her. Brielle and Cash have a real attraction to each other and her sisters and others note how they belong together even though they haven't know each other long. The story is pretty intense and isn't finished. I think there will probably be at least two more stories with Brielle's sisters. I thought the narration was great with the three different narrators. Samantha Brentmoor does a wonderful accent, too. I'm looking forward to more stories and hopefully won't have to wait long.
