Publisher's summary

Sex and pornography addiction are growing problems that devastate the lives of partners as well as sufferers. Sex Addiction: The Partner's Perspective has been written to help partners and those who care about them to survive the shock of discovering their partner is a sex addict and to help them make decisions about the future of their relationships and their lives. First and foremost, it is a practical book, full of facts and self-help exercises to give partners a much-needed sense of stability and control.

Sex Addiction: The Partner's Perspective is divided into three parts. Part one explores the myths surrounding sex addiction and provides up-to-date information about what sex addiction is and what causes it before moving on to explain why the discovery hurts partners so much. Part two is about partners' needs and includes self-help exercises and strategies to help partners regain stability, rebuild self-esteem, and consider their future. The controversial topic of codependency is also explored with guidance on how to identify it, avoid it, and overcome it. Part three focuses on the couple relationship starting with the difficult decision of whether to stay or leave. Whatever the decision, partners will then find help and support for rebuilding trust and reclaiming their sexuality.

Incredibly helpful

I stumbled across this and thought I’d give it a try. I found it to be very informative and very helpful given my current life situation. Great advice for ways to move forward, and some information to help understand what is going on with all parties involved. It was a huge help for me.

As someone just beginning this journey, this book provides a foundation for further inquiry and resources for guided support. I highly recommend if you’re in the throes of it all. This book is a great read for all

Informative, supportive

Discovering your partner has a sex addiction can turn reality as you know it completely upside down. It’s difficult to process your own emotions and feel confident that what you are feeling is ‘normal’ or ‘healthy’. There were so many moments in my recovery (as the partner) where I felt abnormal, unjustified, or crazy. This book highlighted so many of those situations and normalized a range of responses, helping me regain confidence in myself.

Just okay

It was okay. It had good information, but left a lot more to be learned. I’d say this is the very basics of sex addiction. I’m still left with many many questions about the addiction, and how to move forward in life as the betrayed spouse.

Just Break Up

I was wondering if I had this addiction. The book wasn’t really applicable to me as this is more dealing with the aftermath of infidelity.

With that being said, I can’t help but think that if you’ve been cheated on by a sex addict, FIND SOMEONE else unless you have kids lol. The layers of complication and pain that you would have to go through following the steps in this book seem absolutely outrageous. And addict or not, they cheated on you and need to work their problem out. They’ve already hurt you enough.
