Publisher's summary

A priest, a scientist, and a psychologist walk into a bar....

This isn’t the beginning of a joke. It’s the start of a long-overdue conversation about how mainstream religion has handed down a God that only a sadomasochist could love. How are we supposed to worship a deity who wants to only slaughter innocents to assuage his own bloodthirsty rage?

Thank the loving God revealed in Setting God Free that Sean Ólaoire has finally unpacked the horror show known as “the difficult passages” of the Bible, giving listeners access to a cosmology built not on canonical scripture alone, but also on science, spirituality, and personal experience. And as for the God we humans have created in our own image? His day in court has finally come.

Incredible

One of my favorite breakdowns of what spirit actually is. This book beautifully dismantles the stories we were raised on and carefully lifts us back into the arms of the sacred source that unites all beings.

The Best Book On Theology/Spirituality I’ve read To Date

An astounding book on spirituality written and read by an astounding story teller. I would give it six stars if I could!

Irrational about faith, Jesus and the Bible

It's too bad this X priest has denied everything he learned as a priest. It's too bad he's led more by his emotions than his brain. There is nothing in this book that has any evidence to back up what he says. He needs to spend some more time reading books about why Jesus is the Son of God and why the Bible is trustworthy and true than thinking about how he feels.
