Well-written and fast-paced Thriller

I really enjoyed this book. The story is set in Mexico in the mid-2000's when politics and narcotics are creating danger and confusion in Zihuatenejo. Jade-Anne Stone is a private investigator who spends most of her time in the Sausalito office while her boyfriend gets all the exciting assignments. Until she decides to take on a job to find the missing wife of a bank executive. The quest takes her to Mexico where she quickly gets caught up in the above mentioned politics and narcotics.
I love the characters, who are definitely more fully drawn than you get in most thrillers. It's not just about the plot, but the relationships and who's scheming who. Jade-Anne is a kick ass detective whose mouth often gets her in over her head, but you have to love her spunk, her brains, and her vulnerability.
The performance by Jan M. Flynn is perfect for the pace of the book and the nuance of the characters. I hope she is chosen to read the next book in the series.

Suspenseful with Great Characters

I met the writer and she was kind enough to give me two book marks of her two of three books. I immediately went on Audible and listened almost none stop to Set Up, and I look forward to the second book called The Hydra Effect. What an awesome listen. I truly enjoyed the edginess of the characters, even the dog was a character all on his own. An amirable job Ana. Thank you for sharing.

It’s less detective story more about her finding love

It started good but within a short amount of time it’s all about her having sex with some guy she just met as she try’s to determine how to tell her ex
In the end it’s poorly written and I got board in short order unless your into some chic trying to find herself, pathetic
