No matter how much money, status, professional success, or other types of external security one may have, very few people experience true joy and personal freedom. Byron Katie knows this reality too well. In the midst of a "normal and successful" life, Katie became increasingly depressed, and over a ten-year period sank further into rage and despair.
Then, one morning in 1986, out of the blue, she had a sudden, profound insight into how the mind works. As a result, a bedridden, suicidal woman became filled with love for everything life brings. Katie developed a simple yet powerful method of inquiry, called The Work, that helped make this transformation practical.
In this program, you will learn how to use The Work for yourself. You'll discover that, contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once you have investigated it, the thought lets go of you. The Work's four powerful questions and turnaround (which is a way of experiencing the opposite of what you believe) have transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world.
In Your Inner Awakening Byron Katie will teach you this revolutionary process so that you can use it to question and undo any stressful thought that keeps you from experiencing mental clarity. Eventually you may find, as so many others have, that peace and joy flow into every area of your life.

"Byron Katie's Work acts like a razor-sharp sword that cuts through illusions and enables you to know for yourself the timeless essence of your being." (Eckhart Tolle)
I have read several books by Katie and this is the one that I can say"I get it!". Now I just examine my thoughts the way Katie teaches and I have no (real) problems/stress.
I just listened to this for the second time. I discovered The Work about 14 months ago, and credit it with setting the foundation for some wonderful changes I've made in my life. I realized how my thoughts were causing me so much pain. The question, "who would you be without this thought?" is so powerful. I am more loving to myself and everyone in my life. I have peace and clarity, and I am so grateful for Byron Katie!
Not narrate it herself.
Anyone with a stronger voice and no lisp.
I can't get past her etherial voice, she comes across as very fake. Her lisp makes this incredibly difficult to listen too. I'm disappointed to have wasted my credits on this one.
I absolutely loved this book by Byron Katie. I have started recommending it to others and have found it personally very transformative. The lessons you learn within it are instantaneous. That is how powerful the work is!!!
I found that as I heard some of the personal stories, that it would trigger memories for me of my own story .. and this was the healing activated instantly releasing past hurts due to a mind that attached and believed a story long gone...
All Byron's characters were my favourite but in particular, her character as a mum. That was something that I related to and a lesson for me in itself.
The 4 questions. In particular, "Is it true?" , "Can you be sure it is true?" and "Who would you be without that thought?"..
I loved that the book was repetitive as it consolidated for me the concepts. I have read that some people found it repetitive, but for me, this is exactly what I needed to have the experience that I had in reading this book. It was transformational more than words can explain!!! Life changing!!!
I've listened at least 3 times now. Love Katie's style and the content is life changing
"Simple but effective for reducing anxiety & stress"
I've heard many thought leaders and spiritual figures mention the Work of Byron Katie before but I've never read any of her books or come across her work, which is in essence 4 questions.
The 4 questions allow us to question our hurtful/stressful thoughts, reduce anxiety and stress in our lives, give us clarity and happiness and to let us live in a state of love for ourselves and others.
Although it's just 4 questions, don't let the simplification put you off, it's pretty powerful stuff. You will need to be open minded as there are many times our egos would reject these principles to protect the validity of our thoughts and feelings.
There are a quite a few different examples throughout the book which show how to apply the 'work' in practical situations.
The audio book is well read and logically laid out. I suppose I wish it was a little bit longer but I'm sure that Katie would say it's exactly the right length!
I'll definitely listen to/read more of her work.
As a self improvement Coach and being recommended this I was looking forward to it.
Must admit he first 45mins or so I got lost/lost interest but then it picked up/ think the live worked helped and really gave some great insights for working with people and their thoughts
