I would listen to this book again because the info is important but I think I will get the book and read the info myself.
Learning about the body's Self regulation and balance.
I don't know which narrator should have read this book but it should NOT have been Deepak. I love Deepak and have listened to many of his lectures and interviews, however, he sounds flat in this reading. I hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is unfamiliar with his work.
I can't really speak long term here or if this book is for everyone..... however, I've had this audio book for about a month now and have lost 10 kilos... And I have not been on any sort of diet!
After changing a few lifestyle issues i.g. Eating with the family, being present when I eat and a few others.... things have really changed for me.
All in all I found this a worthwhile book that I intend to listen to a few more times...
Been struggling with diet and weight control for years (much like so many others) and about 11 months ago I began to believe that my mind ie subconscious & learnt behavior was more of a culprit than the food itself.
Deepak has been the first to not only turn in the torch in the dark room of my mind but to actually flip the whole light switch on.
I am feeling relaxed about food and body image for the first time in a life time.

Nourishment - Mindfulness- Awareness This is another classic Chopra volume and it has many facets integrated into its diverse insights. Deepak is returning to the issues of health and happiness and now food as a complex and yet basic system requiring mindful living and practice. Nothing can be more basic than "food and nutrition and taste" and the many elements associated with food including emotions and relations.
In this brilliant book Dr. Chopra uses his medical background as well as his studies in Ayurveda and nutrition sciences and also current research about GMO's and organic vs non-organic in a non-dogmatic , yet precise manner to inform and enlighten the reader in some of the new intricacies of food politics and advertising. He then offers solutions for the SAD diet and the processed sugar and fat laden lifeless food of the market while listing a colorful array of alternatives which draw much from the seeming less endless array of raw and fresh fruits and vegetables (and their rich content of phyto-nutrients) and other plant material and other wise choices for those seeking a real food alternative to "diets" that don't work. Yet just when this seems to be a book about diet and fresh foods and choices it starts a rich pattern of integrating all aspects of "nourishment" in the broadest sense and continues to integrate the many aspects of living that and lifestyle as well as habits that can affect our well-being.
Emphasis and enunciation of points and feelings. And author's insights in an audible form.I personally I always prefer hearing Deepak narrate his books. His wisdom is palpable.
I again see the comprehensive nature of Deepak's insight when he inttegrtes many messages into one volume. The title ofthe book and the opening chapters makes this seem oike a book on nutritiona nd diet yet it brings about a transformation as it develops into a life sciences and awareness text with the classic Chopra insights.
The book then investigates all of the aspects of consciousness and living which can have effects on the quality of life and ultimately on one's happiness and balance.Included in this book is much contemporary research on biochemical as well as psychological factors involved n the many levels of "nourishment" As always with Deepak Chopra's work the key is mind-body-and spirit, the Trinity. And true to his roots in Indian culture. Deepak brings back the insights of the science of Ayurveda to broaden the definitions of and insights into holistic nutrition as well as lightening and enlightening the mind and body in a "full spectrum" approach.
The review of emotional well-being and Self-regulation reviews many delightful and informative views on maintaining inner perspective and mindfulness . Throughout the book Deepak uses a lovely phrase "lightness of Soul' which aptly describes the freedom from emotional-psychological and physical burdens and toxins.
The last section of the book has many recipes and suggestions for meals and food preparations from the Chopra kitchen and center.Make no mistake, this is no mere food-diet-menu book. It truly draws upon the wisdom of many philosophies and sciences and modern science as well
I highly recommend this book from Deepak because it weaves together the practicalities of diet and food as well as the issues behind eating and the practices we can integrate to produce optimum health and nutrition as well as the practices needed for balance and insight.. Definitely 5 stars
Inspiring, Supportive, Mindful
Deepak Chopra, the author himself. His mind body approach is very inspiring and easy to understand and to follow through.

It has made a difference already after the first couple days. Great info and helps me really think about what I am putting into my body.
After loosing just over 1/2 my body weight at 166lbs, I struggled to find peace with myself. Mostly due to the intense fear of gaining back 20, 30, 40lbs or even more once I curbed what I knew to be an unsustainable daily excersice routine I had adopted all while battling a self control problem that I didn't even realize I had which caused me to binge eat at times. Not to mention gain all the weight I had lost in the first place.
I realized the goal of keeping the weight off was going to take a much different approach then the one I used to lose the weight, or I would be doomed to simply gain it all back, unless I was willing to put my family aside and break down my body so I can workout as frequently and as intensely as physically possible.
This book changed my life and approach around completely. I now see that I was missing the single most important aspect of weight management, balance. Without a balanced approach you are destined to rebound, it's just how life works I guess.
I now listen to my body and I am learning when to eat and why I am eating.
I am a botanist and environmentalist. I am also a teacher and counselor.
Mr. Chopra has a soft calm voice and I will listen to much of this book again!
The information is good and relevant. Very useful, but the narrative a little too slow for me. It's better to listen when you can write down or be able to bookmark (while driving can be hard). But overall the content is good and helped me understand how to be a better eater and help me as a whole.
Beautiful. Inspiring. Real. Actionable.
This is so much more that a book on weight loss. This is what I have been looking for a long time, and it is slowly changing my awareness on what I am really hungry for and why I stuff my face over food. I have already started changing my approach on every aspect of life, including my motivation to get active, the type of food I eat, the quantity, what pushes me to eat and to be aware of the moments I overindulge.
You will find everything you need in a practical guide to get your life in order again by being "present", lighter, centered and happy again. Effortlessly and easily.
Love it so much!! Highly highly recommended.
So much wisdom as always. Simple steps to take to make changes. Easy to do if one makes the effort. Looking forward to putting Dr Deepak Chopra's wisdom into practice.
