The Sweet Potato Queens' Field Guide to Men is the Queens' manifesto on all matters of the heart, featuring tales from Queens around the world, plus the continuing adventures of the women you've come to know and love (and envy just a little bit). In this audiobook, Wannabe Queens everywhere will learn: the difference between a Bud Spud, a Spud Stud, a Crud Stud, and other Studs; Man Ears and Other Guy Stuff; and still more about The Promise.

"A Southern-fried delight....Browne is at her laugh-till-it-hurts best." (Publishers Weekly)
What can I say-I love the Sweet Potato Queen books. I don't get the wigs or the boots or the parade, but I definatly get the mindset. I started reading the books when I heard my mom hooting and hollering in laughter reading them. She said it wouldn't be as funny to me because I'm not old enough or fat enough-and that may be the case. But I'm still in stitches everytime I read or hear these books. Trust me, the way the author speaks is enough to make listening to the books worthwhile, rather than reading them.
This is an excellent book that goes into what men are like, what women are like around men, and the crazy stuff we do to get around men more. Think of it as the southern "He's really not that into you," only funny.
The encouragement to women to feel self worth and have strength to stop being a victim.
The inflection and speech patterns can never be fully realized on paper.
Not sure that there is just one. I read Jill Conner Browne to enjoy her twisted point of view and the creative way she describes her life.
This is light escapism reading. As a woman from East Texas, I identify in a many parts of the book the way I am and the way I would like to be. Sorry, Jill. Mississippi is more like Texas than you might want to admit.
The recipes are fun, too.
Delightfully funny. Such a great "feel good read".
Jill Conner Browne is not only a barrel of laughs as a writer, she is also the absolute perfect reader for her books!!
Don't miss this one
The Sweet Potato Queen books brighten up my commute and have me laughing out loud on my vanpool. I have to be careful not to drink while listening because otherwise I'll surely squirt liquid from my nose. And try the recipes if you don't mind dieting for a week afterwards!
I have enjoyed all of Jill Connor Browne's books, this one included. The Field Guide to Men seemed to me to be a little more cynical and a little less kind than Jill's other books but still it is very funny and I wouldn't have missed it for anything. I love listening to her voice reading her books on a long trip. I'll be waiting in line for the next.
I laughed out loud driving alone in the car! Hearing the author read this was a real treat, wish I was going to the St. Patrick's Day parade with the Queens this year.....Maybe next year!
I didn't get it! Never finished listening.
