I have to admit I bought this audio book out of curiosity successfully induced by the great marketing and publicity along with its title and the "mysterious" seal picture.
This fact alone, deserves to be complimented to the team of all the people who worked on this project, not forgetting to thank the author who "created" this book.
Never the less it is a good insightful book giving "something different" to consider and think about.
Yes, I personally recommend this book.
I am so glad I downloaded "The Secret" and listened to it. This was a great investment on myself. I ve been applying the Secret into my life. I have seen amazing results. Especially, during a time of a recession period. I have no complaints. This audiobook help transform my soul and spirit. I am glad "The Secret" found me. I thank and the bless author who wrote it. In addition, sharing "The Secret" to the rest of the world.
I found this book to be eye opening, and "the secret" has got to be one of lifes most important lessons to master. I love the message in this presentation. I didn't care for the silly soundtrack... I believe it took away from the presentation as a useless annoying distraction from an otherwise great 5 star audio presentation.
I have listened to over 400 audio books, at least 30 were self help. Tony Robins (this leads to The Secret-hold on) stood out as the best of the best. I studied his tapes for years and they improved my life daily. I was a heroin addict for over 20 yrs, ended up in Federal prison and wrote a book about it called Running Out Of Road. I've been clean now for over 17 yrs, most of that was with the help of Tony Robins' teachings. Since 1994 I've studied, read, heard, every audio book or program I could find! Yes I still listen to Tony's new works. BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL THIS GREAT BOOK: The Secret, that I've come to a complete understanding of life. In the past few weeks I've applied the principals and every single day is a gift, and an improvement from the wonderful day before. I listen before bed, on my way to my business (CEO now!), and I actually WATCH people as they see a difference in me. I don't talk about how or why and so far nobody has asked me why I appear different; it's an experience. A life changing moment by heartfelt and exciting moment. Nothing has ever touched me, awakened me, nore given my life more hope than THE SECRET.
I am warming to this books message. I began the book just after viewing the Operah show and thought this would be the better way for me to hear the information presented. At first the unusual Australian accent of Ronda Byrne was difficult to listen to however by chapter 3 I became accustomed to her speech patterns. I still question some of the prime points. I have begun the book for a second time and am hearing parts of the message I had not heard the first listen. Yes it is the Power of Positive thinking and I have noticed some subtle changes in my life. Would they occur with a different stimulus I do not know however I am consciously trying to embrace the positive aspects of message put fourth in the book and a positive outlook is bound to stimulate feelings of well being. As suggested by one customer review listening to the narrative with an open mind and open heart is the best way to approach this book.
A rare occurrence for me, but I gave up on this book about 1 hour and 45 minutes into it. The concepts just don’t work for me; frankly I believe it’s a bunch of dribble. Does the universe vibrate, and if I think the right things, in the right way, all will come true? Perhaps further into the book something more substantive is offered, I just could not wait for it. Not worth the money or time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I come from a very different background, I am a Muslim and I am fascinated by the book.
I believe this magnificent work is a convergence of what has been revealed so far from what is known. Everybody who was exposed to self improvement was familiar with the bits and pieces that were shared here and there, things like how faith or positive thinking can make a difference.
But here we are, with the Secret revealed in its grandeur.
A friend of mine was watching Opera and they were talking about "the Secret" is a book by Rhonda Byrne. She convinced me to read it. It basically teaches people to think positive and good things will happen. My problem with the book is two things. First it tries to teach that thought waves are projected out into the universe and attract similar thoughts (explained by Quantum Physics??) But the second teaching is the one that makes my go hum.... They explain the process it all in a way that, if good things don't happen to you, is because you don't "believe they will".
How destructive this could be... There is a psychological/sociological concept called "blaming the victim" in which we blame the very individual who has been hurt. This is the process used by an abuser ("If you behaved the way I want you to, I wouldn't have to hurt you!"), and it destroys confidence, self-esteem, hope...The medical profession has its own version...There is some belief that we are the cause of our own illnesses. (Most especially, cancer). What a horrible burden to place on someone if they become ill! Likewise, if you wish for something to happen (without a true understanding of what, in life, you can control and cannot) and it doesn't come about (winning the lottery, for example), then the blame falls on you...("Well, you just didn't believe enough!") Can you see what the implications of this nonsense are? They have an answer for everything. They talked about the people who die in war and how it was because they had the "thought" of war that drew them to their death. I can even begin to say how much damage this will cause. These are the basic RADICAL principles of people who do not believe in medicine and there child dies because of a simple cold, they blame the child for not "believing enough".
The premise of "The Secret" could be interesting and useful for those who need a lift. However, for those who are looking for a scholarly walk through self analysis and enlightenment I suggest looking elsewhere. The book feels like a term paper written using the National Enquirer as it's lead source. The message is clear from the outset concerning the power of positive thinking but the author rambles amd repeats the same message so much it feels like brainwashing. "The Secret" can have a place as an important message in our lives, but this is simply an extravagant marketing commercial for the people who need to hear the message the most. The author name drops several well respected figures in history but their connection with the "The Secret" is unclear. Just because one chooses to quote Einstein and Churchill in their book it simply does not make the message anymore earth shaking or relevent.
Perhaps those who are in need of self-analysis would be better served reading from scholars who offer substance to their logic and not best-sellers on Oprah's list.
This book was a severe disappointment. I'd heard great things about it from many people, however when I read it, it didn't tell me anything new. Of course you "attract" like people and situations to you. Ordinary people have known that for thousands of years. If you have to listen to this book listen to about the 1st hour, after that it just repeats itself. No new insights are gained.
On a positive note, the presentation of this book is amazing. The music is very nice and it does start out making you feel like this is going to give you the ultimate key to happiness. Ultimately, it does not.
All my life I've been looking for God and I knew since I was 5 year old that religion is not the answer. I always felt like religion is fabricated and there must be some higher powers out there which I need to find. After reading this book I looked back at my life and realised that I have been using the secret without even knowing it :) Now every day I apply secret and life is Good! :)
Amazing & it works. I love it when you get a moment that is "the Law of Attraction" feeling great now
"Better than the movie"
Loved listening to it. I will recommend this book to all. 4 stars.
The Secret has changed and is changing my life. Bless all who read and listen to this book.
I think I've read this a dozen times now! Whenever I'm not on track I read it again and I hear something different every time.
I was in such a dark place and itt brought me back to where I want to be. I now have hope and believe..
Since I learned The Secret, my life has changed. I apply it to my daily life and I became a better person. All narrators are very inspiring!
Take from it what you will, for me, inspiring! May be what I needed right now but enjoyed the internalising cognitive processes it provokes. Promoting a universally empowering attitude. Excellent!
"can't get enough of it"
