Show Up and Let Yourself be Seen
Is vulnerability the same as weakness? “In our culture,” teaches Dr. Brené Brown, “we associate vulnerability with emotions we want to avoid such as fear, shame, and uncertainty. Yet we too often lose sight of the fact that vulnerability is also the birthplace of joy, belonging, creativity, authenticity, and love.” On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.
“The Power of Vulnerability is a very personal project for me,” Brené explains. “This is the first place that all of my work comes together. This audio course draws from all three of my books - it’s the culmination of everything I’ve learned over the past twelve years. I'm very excited to weave it all into a truly comprehensive form that shows what these findings and insights can mean in our lives.”
Guidance and Insights for Wholehearted Living
Over the past twelve years, Dr. Brené Brown has interviewed hundreds of people as part of an ongoing study of vulnerability. “The research shows that we try to ward disappointment with a shield of cynicism, disarm shame by numbing ourselves against joy, and circumvent grief by shutting off our willingness to love,” explains Dr. Brown. When we become aware of these patterns, she teaches, we begin to become conscious of how much we sacrifice in the name of self-defense -and how much richer our lives become when we open ourselves to vulnerability.
“In my research,” Dr. Brown says, “the word I use to describe people who can live from a place of vulnerability is wholehearted.” Being wholehearted is a practice—one that we can choose to cultivate through empathy, gratitude, and awareness of our vulnerability armor. Join this engaging and heartfelt teacher on The Power of Vulnerability as she offers profound insights on leaning into the full spectrum of emotions—so we can show up, let ourselves be seen, and truly be all in.

There is no print version, I believe.
Brene Brown provided a lot of anecdotes - I loved how the recording wasn't based off a book but a bunch of different lectures. She's a very likeable and humorous person and I loved listening to her.
I really learned a lot about shame/vulnerability and she provided a different lens for me to look at those things.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AUDIOBOOK. Seriously, Brene Brown is fantastic.
This book has made such a meaningful impact on me and my life. I urge the listener to listen in small chunks then take the time to reflect. There were several moments that reduced me to tears.
Also, I am a 46 year old male attorney. The concepts Brene Brown talks about are universal.
I painted my bathroom this weekend. I wanted to listen to something great as I worked. Coming across this book was the best unplanned read that I've ever had. Halfway through I recommended it to nearly everyone I know. So great, on point, and terribly and terrifically relatable!!
This is one of the best books I have ever heard. It challenges you, while at the same time teaching you in real and sometimes hilarious ways why authenticity and vulnerability are so important to being the real you and living a full life.
Brene Brown is a fantastic presenter who walks the talk and talks the walk of vulnerability.
Brene Brown's delivery of her own content.
I'm more healthily aware of blame, shame, guilt, embarrassment and vulnerability and becoming better at caring for myself as well as others.
Recommending this to everyone I love.
Five years ago I heard her speak at a conference, and enjoy her ways of knowing and her choice of qualitative research. Her choices expands the field away from evidenced-based practice - Finally! She is one of my favorite researchers.
This book, or audio from a lecture series just blew me away. I really did not know what it would be about when I got it. The author was recommended to me so I jumped in without looking and am so glad I did. Brené Brown just explained and defined about a half dozen things I've been struggling with. She talks about her research interwoven with her personal experiences in a warm empathetic way. Kind of like the most knowledgeable, caring girlfriend sitting with you over coffee to give you amazing insight about your life. I cannot think of a single person I know who would not benefit from listening to this.
Perhaps one of the most insightful and transformational books I have heard on my journey of self discovery and living a life without fear and into faith...
Laughed, cried and learned a huge amount about myself.. Everyone should listen to this!
Hearing her stories brings it alive.
I have no words to explain how profound this audiobook is. I can only give the facts on how this book has left me feeling.
I love Brene Brown for all her research & drive to pass on this information. She's not perfect, she's does not know everything but she has done her research & would not be giving us her results unless she was certain of them. She is not my hero because she knows a lot or can talk on stage or because she's perfect, but she is a hero to me because she is honest, funny, fact-based informative & she's willing to speak about the hard things.
I was in tears on countless occasions because of how deeply it resonated with me because I am human & everything she talks about is part of the human experience.
I literally kept checking to see how much time I had wishing it would stop counting down & never end.
I feel I have opened up an emotional can of worms. She has brought so many things to light for me that I never realized impacted me as they did.
This is not the first time I will listen to this audiobook, I will start it over again and again as life is all about learning and growing.
I wish I had a Brene Brown in my back pocket.
This book was exceptionally amazing. I cannot recommend it enough.
Very engaging and interesting. I'm looking forward to listening again, to try and absorb more of the talks. I would thoroughly recommend.
"Life changing book"
This book allowed me to see life very differently and explore part of myself that I have not visited for a long time.
This in turn allowed me to enjoy breakthrough.
I cannot recommend it enough :)

"Funny, Informative, Compassionate"
Yes even though haven't read it, the tone of Brene's voice brings alot to the teachings
The insight that vulnerability is courage
Personal experiences and authenticity of her voice
Made me feel compassionate for myaself
Will be listening again, alot of very informative sections on how emotions work, I'm really interested in this and think its very important to understand these emotional responses in order to be able to understand that its normal and to be able to let go of bitterness
"Brene Brown issimply amazing"
I never write reviews but Brene Brown is simply amazing.
She uses grounded research which for me is the best. Her work is authentic and original and she has the courage to tackle the most difficult subjects and her findings are extremely valuable and definitely not the run of the mill, ordinary almost anticipated findings.
On top of all of this it is an amazing experience to listen to her speak, Her authenticity, originality, humour, constant clear presentation, down to earth, matter of fact way makes her a joy to listen to, not to mention the huge benefits and relevancy of her excellent work to probably everyone.
I cannot praise this woman and her work enough, she is simply genius.
The content is thought provoking and inspiring. I've listened to it three times and get more out of it each time. Also she is very funny and illustrates a lot of her points with stories from her own life - refreshing to hear somebody delivering this kind of material without coming from a place of superiority.
"Not worth the money"
For starters it is not a book but a recorded seminar. There is a lot of loughs, jokes, and time fillers very little substance for something costing £25+
Not genre but possible the author. There are valid point made in the seminar but despite author claiming obsession with data there is little research mention and most of the topic are just glanced over.
Laughs, oh ahs and other things that have little value for someone not physically participating in the seminar.
Some valid points but all covered on very high level, have the feeling that surface of the topics discussed was just but scratched. And it is not a book it is seminar.
Brene speaks with humility, passion and strength. It was easy to connect with her and that she is "like me" and knows what living "in the real world" is like.
I laughed a lot and was very inspired by much of what she spoke about. I journalled a lot and have shifted many things for myself thanks to the self awareness this book gave me.
"It's amazingly funny, informative and serious"
It is an amazingly good talk about vulnerability, creativity, fun, shame and a ton of related things.
Highlights most of the core problems present in any organisation, failing projects, families and how to solve them.
And she is funny - all the stories, the presentations are funny, informative and very helpful.
