This is my favorite audio book!!!

Every once in a while you come across someone who is a teacher...a teacher of life, of hard knocks and who has the natural ability to inspire. Danielle LaPorte is a natural. Her ideas hit deeply - and she delivers this with the perfect voice. Well done! Bravo!!!

Fiery, soulful, poetic masterpiece!

I highly recommend this book, especially if you are at a major crossroads in your life! I had recently been “laid off” (total blessing!) and needed some soul igniting guidance on how to recreate my dream work for this season of my life.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book are:

"Your most valuable currency is what comes most naturally to you."

"If it doesn't light you up, you're not the right person for the job."

This is seriously some of the best advice I heard in a loooong time. I listened to the audiobook twice already, so I could let the wisdom soak into my being. Plus I LOOOOOVE Danielle's voice!

I listened to it twice, back to back. May I suggest the audio version over the hard copy purely for the reason that Danielle's voice and delivery truly "bring it home" and will lull you into your best life.

set my heart on fire

Danielle breaks through myths, sluggish motivation, and barriers I've used for years! She openly talks about love, narrowing focus, and chaos as needed parts of the adventure I am creating of my life. She is a dynamic narrator as well as writer and I hope that everyone follows her lead and opens to their own best life! I'm on fire and I start now.

Loved idea but some of the "passion" was "cheesy"

I really liked and agreed with a lot of what she said. Some of the ideas were dead-on. The problem for me was that it often felt a little forced. Some of her pseudo quirky asides were majorly annoying. I wanted to love all of it. I would have loved to give the concepts 4 stars but their execution a 3 1/2. It's like a Forever 21, or Wet Seal version of a cool outfit that you might see. It felt a little budget in places.

She's a wise woman but it's just a little annoying to hear a little canadian girl say stuff like " mamma you treat yo' self real fine" and then say "about" in that canadian way that sounds like " a boot." I cringed too many times to count. It would be like Oprah doing a hip-hop review. Not quite what I wanted to hear.

The ideas were pretty good and most of it was fine but those random " I think I'm so hip" moments were like fingernails on a blackboard for me. I would recommend it to a friend but warn her that it might be better to read it in paperback rather than listen to it.

What's really funny about that is a friend told me about this same book but almost begrudgingly. She'd read it in paperback and while it sounded interesting, something about it made her almost not want to recommend it. ( I had to pull the title out of her.) When I got it as an audio book and commented to her about the author's little quips trying a little "too cool" she said " I had a hard time finishing certain sections because of it." I don't just mean the writing either.

At times, the author's unnecessarily breathy delivery make it sound as though she may have just taken a puff from a clove cigarette while doing a reading at a coffee house open mic.

Some suburban folks who like Harlequin romances and only listen to top 40 will probably not even pick it up. These are the folks that can hear the words " passion" and "uh-mazing" a million times and not want to puke. If my comments make no sense to you, then you will probably ADORE the PASSION ignited by this AMAZING book.

Worth reading, but just keep these comments as a warning label.

Where does The Fire Starter Sessions rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It rates well in regards to content but I wasn't a fan of her writing style or delivery.

What aspect of Danielle LaPorte’s performance would you have changed?

I felt her voice was quite monotone and wasn't always a fan of her langauge. I particularly didn't like how she would just rattle off a whole lot of single words one after the other.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Lots of great ideas and advice, I liked the ones about finding your passion and following your intuition.

Danielle Laporte ' s passion for life is beautifully portrayed throughout this book. You not only hear the words but feel her enthusiasm through her own voice. I will definitely listen to this audiobook over and over! rock on!
