Publisher's summary

In The Four Agreements, a New York Times best seller for over seven years, don Miguel Ruiz revealed how the process of our education, or “domestication,” can make us forget the wisdom we were born with. Throughout our lives, we make many agreements that go against ourselves and create needless suffering. The Four Agreements help us to break these self-limiting agreements and replace them with agreements that bring us personal freedom, happiness, and love. Now don Miguel Ruiz joins his son don Jose Ruiz to offer a fresh perspective on the Four Agreements, and a powerful new agreement for transforming our lives into our personal heaven: the fifth agreement. The Fifth Agreement takes us to a deeper level of awareness of the power of the Self, and returns us to the authenticity we were born with. In this compelling sequel to the book that has changed the lives of millions of people around the world, we are reminded of the greatest gift we can give ourselves: the freedom to be who we really are.

Great follow up to The Four Agreements

I want to listen to this again because it is difficult to change our behavior, to stop rehashing the past or trying to impress others and to be the best that we can be. I found this book helpful in getting rid of regrets and focusing on the present in order to be happy.

Interesting and enlightening...

Overall a very interesting idea and concept , although easy to dismiss and rather forgettable . Lacks any real tangible information until the later chapters.
I did enjoy the performance , although it put me to sleep on more than one occasion.

The answer to… "If you could only take one book?"

Would you listen to The Fifth Agreement again? Why?

At the time of this review I'm on my eighth time through this classic. Each time reveals another layer of discovery. The simple agreements end the searching for meaning and reveal a simple truth…our investment in knowledge has caused us to forget our authentic selves.

What did you like best about this story?

The five agreements sound so simple yet are challenging to follow in a world that communicates almost exclusively by gossip. Miguel Ruiz provides clarity to a lot of the confusion around personal development and spiritual studies.

Which character – as performed by Peter Coyote – was your favorite?

What can you say about Peter Coyote? The guy is smooth. His delivery is so genuine you almost believe he wrote it.

Any additional comments?

The Fifth Agreement truly is the answer to the question, "If you could only take one book with you on a solo quest?" It explains why life can be so hard sometimes and then provides tools (the agreements) to achieve "heaven on earth."
