Cameron Diaz shares her formula for becoming happier, healthier, and stronger in this positive, essential guide that is grounded in science and inspired by personal experience.
Throughout her career, Cameron Diaz has been a role model for millions of women. By her own candid admission, though, this fit, glamorous, but down-to-earth star was not always health-conscious. Learning about the inseparable link between nutrition and the body was just one of the life-changing lessons that has fed Cameron's hunger to educate herself about the best ways to feed, move, and care for her body. In The Body Book, she shares what she has learned and continues to discover about nutrition, exercise, and the mind/body connection.
Grounded in science and informed by real life, The Body Book offers a comprehensive overview of the human body and mind, from the cellular level up. From demystifying and debunking the hype around food groups to explaining the value of vitamins and minerals, listeners will discover why it's so important to embrace the instinct of hunger and to satisfy it with whole, nutrient-dense foods. Cameron also explains the essential role of movement, the importance of muscle and bone strength and why we need to sweat a little every day.
The Body Bookdoes not set goals to reach in seven days or thirty days or a year. It offers a holistic, long-term approach to making consistent choices and reaching the ultimate goal: A long, strong, happy, healthy life.

Absolutely! This is not a diet book or a work out book. Instead it explains how the female body works, and how to take care of yourself - no matter what shape you are in. I will recommend this to those who are at their ideal fitness level as well as those who need motivation to lose weight. It motivated me to move more and be more aware of what kind of food I was putting into my body. I feel better already! It's truly a wonderful way to educate yourself on being strong, fit and happy.
Well researched! So much amazing information - and it was written (spoken) in a way that was fun to listen to. There was a lot of scientific stuff as well, and she even made that sound fun! Not an easy feat.
The information was articulated clearly and in a fun, easy to understand manner. Like a friend was chatting to you. Just loved it! I felt so happy listening to this book, it really made me feel empowered.
That we should all educate ourselves on how to be OUR best. We should not be defined by anyone else's standards, but be as strong and fit as we can, for ourselves.
This will be an audio book that I will go back and listen to. I may also get the book so I can highlight certain things. It really is *that* good!
Yes, I knocked it out in 2 nights. This book was motivational. There are no hidden secrets but great reminders and new perspectives. Nobody has it easy. It takes discipline to eat right and maintain a fit lifestyle. Loved the narrator!
I love the different approach she took on eating healthy. Society tells us to eat healthy and exersice regularly simply to loose weight (and of course that's exactly what you need to do) But Carmen Diaz broke it down and explained the "WHY" you should do certain things versus what you are use to doing. She opens your mind to help you to live a healthier lifestyle and gives you an understanding of the benifits from doing so. She is not talking about "loosing weight" or "gaining weight" because it is NOT a diet book or a meal plan book and it's definitely not an exercise book. It is simply a book about your body for those women who are trying to live a healthier lifestyle (not necessarily a skinny lifestyle).
It targets ALL WOMEN. This book is ideal for the typical "i need to loose weight" women, but it especially targets the " I'm too skinny, and i'm tired of people pointing that out" women too. It's basically a book on learning how to be healthy and how to love and care for the body you were born with. Great motivational book!
i love that Carmen Diaz gave a personal realistic approach to this book. She fills you with so much information in a Down to earth way that grabs your attention. I especially love to be able to hear her voice in the beginning to the audio, she really does personalize the book and gives you a warm feeling that makes you believe every word she says. Like i said, it's very motivational! i already got 2 other people on it! :) Thanx girl!
Well narrated, great info!
Very good info, very inspiring…
nope - this was the first one, very good overall, worth listening to and referring to over and over
It got me back to the gym and eating properly!
Thanks to this book, I have not enjoyed a single thing I've eaten in 3 weeks. She has frightened me out of eating bad non whole foods and now my meals are filled with nasty oatmeal and tasteless Quinoa. I've lost 12 pounds but I think that's mostly because food is so delicious lately that I don't even finish my meals. I imagine that over the next couple of weeks I will waste away and die because anything is better than eating canned tomatoes. I recommend this book to people who are not as impressionable as I am.
This is one of few informational books that I've ever actually enjoyed rather than endured!
I most enjoyed the chapter on movement. It was and fun to consider getting more joy from my body by just moving more. And it was informative to gain an understanding of the ways in which movement will improve my body and, therefore, the quality of life I have while living in it.
I preferred hearing the reading by Cameron. Sandy was great. But it was a bit odd for her to read most of the book rather than Cameron. Even more so that she read in a voice and style that mimicked Cameron!
The book made me laugh sometimes (e.g. the discussion of "poop" and "pee", a serious discussion of the body's process of eliminating waste that was still light)! I also found myself a bit teary-eyed as the book moved me to hopeful consideration of the many possibilities available for me to care for and enjoy my healthy body in this lifetime even if I have not been perfect to date.
I am so glad that I chose this book. Of course there is lots of information out there about what to do (drink more water, exercise more, etc.) but very little that really explains why. I've never heard anyone explain so clearly what happens, at a molecular level, to the fuel we put (or don't) into our bodies and what happens when we choose movement (or don't).
The specific information and light spirit of the book give me a joyful motivation to take care of my body in new ways. One by one, I have already started making changes. Rather than feeling deprived, I feel excited to make more!
How surprised I was that it's not necessary to go hungry, causes of feeling that way and the simple solutions.
Equally great. They sound very similar.
There were many moments because it's a book of information, a reference book, a motivational labor of love and presentation was wonderful (made me smile). I think of it as generous to share so many "secrets" of health & living a well, beautiful and full life!
This is not a book about losing weight. That said, I have by following some advice given in the book. I actually FEEL better generally speaking (physically, emotionally and confidently). It's all connected. My cravings are coming into alignment with what my body really wants. I've learned so much from this important book. I'm eating differently, as suggested, and it's working. Energy level up as well. This is a a book , for me, that happened to come out at a time when I was ready, open minded and willing to accept at face value what she said. It spoke to me. Not every little morsel is new information, mind you, on the other hand, as if with a friend, I listened and didn't feel like I'd wasted a moment of my life. Recommend to anyone who wants to know more about self care (men, too). Hoping she writes more books!
Already did listen again! Will listen over and over to keep me focused.
It adds a personal touch to the book and her life. Great narrating!
I must remember we are really what we eat. Good nutrition is the key to great health and stamina. Knowing what to eat and what combinations of foods give you the most bang for your buck definitely helps. I will be in this for the long haul, and this book makes it simple to understand and easier for me to carry the routine of good healthful eating through the rest of my life. It is about healthy choices. Kiss that junk food goodbye- you won't want to put another piece of unhealthy food in your mouth again. Also, I like how she stresses the importance of exercise, as this is always the last thing most of us like to do. It should be a priority for all of us to move more.
Just really enjoyed the whole book. It will be played over and over again to remind me to be kind to myself and take care of myself. I would highly recommend it.
I felt like it was a good combination of how the body works and real life applications.
Cameron... of course....
The narrator does a great job! At times I felt like she WAS Cameron Diaz.
Cameron does a great job talking about loving the body you have. It's true! We don't give ourselves enough credit. It reminded me to reconnect with myself and listen to what my body is telling me.
Silicon Valley Realtor, and avid reader and listener! Thanks, Audible for all the hours together!
I think so highly of Cameron Diaz as an actress and still will even after trying to get through this very disappointing and information...less audible book. I would say to mums out there that if you have a young daughter that is possibly uncomfortable with her body image, or not interested in taking instruction from you, then download this book for her.
Guns Germs and Steel
The narrator was speaking as if she were on a teen hollywood movie. I could barely get through her narration.
This is clearly a hollywood idol trying to add the check mark of a publication to her name.
