Publisher's summary

This long-awaited second book by renowned spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle goes deeper into the teachings so eloquently and clearly expressed in his first book, The Power of Now.

These short, clear entries are organized into ten topic clusters ranging from "Stillness and Silence" and "Beyond the Thinking Mind" to "Relationships" and "Suffering and the End of Suffering." Whether listened to individually or in topic clusters, these entries take on a rare transformative power.

While its message is broad and profound, Stillness Speaks is also highly practical. Eckhart Tolle shows us how to be with another in a relationship that can contain and weather all things, how to sit with a dying person, where to find wisdom, how to free ourselves of guilt, and how to control our constant stream of thoughts. Underneath the words, and in the spaces between them, we find the power of stillness, a vibrantly alive state existing only in the present moment. Stillness Speaks draws upon the essence of all spiritual traditions, offering a message that is both ancient and contemporary, filled with timely and powerful wisdom.

Stillness Speaks to your Soul

Eckhart Tolle brings all of his thought/ideas/truths into a concise smaller volume. A good place to start and definitely a good place to refresh!

Insightful

Loved this. I am a fan of Tolle's wisdom and how his words help with self reflection. Had to listen to a few chapters a over as some of the concepts are tricky. Would recommend to anyone open to becoming more aware.

Great book for entering a deep meditative state

I highly recommend LISTENING to The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle before starting this audio-book. I found it gives this product much more value and longevity.

I wanted to give this book a perfect rating. I can't seem to put it down.
This book has put me in such deep, sustainable meditative states that I adore it.
Unfortunately, there were a few problems with it.

1) Eckhart falls into the trap of mistaking subjective experience for objective reality.

2) He cherry-picks religions to allow people to enter the meditative state. My main gripe involving Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Although many people whom find religion problematic take it to be a all encompassing literal word, it is simply not. There are passages in most religions that are meant as a metaphor. The problem is he picks and chooses passages. Which any person with bad intentions can do the same to cause misery and woe. This, of course, can be chalked up to the ego itself. The problem with this philosophy is anybody with ill-will can do the same as Eckhart and feel ethically "good."

3) Although he makes it clear that science is neither good or bad. He mistakenly blames scientific progression to be destructive, with the caveat that it is the egoistic mind (spiritually speaking) to be at fault. We are undoubtedly living, in every shape and form, the most peaceful time in human history. It is not scientific thinking, with the aforementioned ego, that is causing the problems, but the ones who refuse to listen to scientific data and reason.

I know it seems I have a lot of problems with this book, but I have to stress, I adore it. It allows me to enter a incredibly deep meditative state and sustain it. It shows me things about myself I would have never discovered on my own. Finally, it showed me a experience within myself that has a boundless amount of love and peace.

With all my criticisms, please do yourself a favor; listen to this and most of his audio-books (if you are not religious, it might be best to skip A New Earth.) Audio is the best way to experience this in my opinion.

The Title Says it All

Awesome! Saying too much or anything for that matter would be the antithesis of the book.

A Deep Practice

I use this novel as a meditation in itself. Listening to Eckhart as he helps us understand freedom, gives a wonderful glimpse of complete clarity. A walk in nature accompanied by this book is a stroll through bliss.

Stillness Speaks - so meaningful and important!

With everything that Eckhart writes (or speaks - for I greatly enjoy listening to him on Audible) I gain new insights… all the time. It’s interesting to me that no matter how tense or stressed I might feel when I start to listen I _always_ feel so much better within just a few minutes. I started with The Power of Now back in August 2021 then moved on to The New Earth in early 2022 and have now completed my first intake of Stillness Speaks. I say “first intake” because, as with each of the others, I’ll immerse myself in this book over and over, it’s so good. Others may say that Stillness Speaks is a “rehash” of his other books (and ideas) but he expresses himself differently here and his words continue (and definitely will _always_ continue) to resonate within me. He is terrific and has changed my life. Get this audible book - I highly recommend it!

The book is great! But The reader is depressing. I had to return the audiobook.

Beautiful and inspiring.

Avoids needless words. There is power and inspiration in its brevity and simplicity. It gives hope to humanity while empowering the readers to free themselves from rambling and self damaging thoughts.
