The Ken Wilber Sessions - an unprecedented audio learning experience
Before the birth of the universe, there existed your Original Face, the limitless Self that has been present throughout the unfolding of inert matter into life - and that continues to dwell within us at every level of consciousness. Where is this grand evolution taking us, and how can each of us participate in it more fully?
On Kosmic Consciousness, Ken Wilber invites you to find out. Since the first publication of his groundbreaking ideas at the age of 23, Ken Wilber has sought to bring together the world's far-ranging spiritual teachings, philosophies, and scientific truths into one coherent and all-embracing vision. This "integral" map of the Kosmos (the universe that includes the physical cosmos as well as the realms of consciousness and spirit) offers an unprecedented guide to discovering your highest potentials. Now, this legendary author invites you to discover these insights in his first full-length audio learning course.
In 10 fascinating sessions, Wilber pursues questions especially relevant to spiritual seekers: What are the most effective tools for "jumping" to the next level in your spiritual, creative, and cognitive development? Does prayer work? How do women and men experience consciousness differently? Is subtle energy real and, if so, how do we harness it? Why is developing "witness consciousness" so crucial for self-realization? Can we cultivate infinite love by loving one, finite person? What, exactly, does "kosmic consciousness" feel like? One of our greatest possibilities, teaches Wilber, is "to balance and harmonize our experiences at whatever stage of growth we are in - and to deepen our capacity for compassion, consciousness, and care."

As a recovering strict scientific materialist, I've been expanding my mind with a compulsion to broaden my perspectives on life, the universe and everything. I've always had a spiritual side, but one that lived in the scientific closet. Since my awakening to a much broader perspective, I have absorbed as much as I can - voraciously moving from one set of ideas to another - Amazon and Audible can attest to my addictions. I'd come a across Ken Wilber before but quite frankly I was turned off, thinking he looked arrogant on his book covers, with that serious know-it-all look from behind round glasses beneath a bald head. I'm not denying I can be shallow but in my frantic search to catch up from my years in the closet, I didn't want to waste time on some arrogant twit.
Recently, for whatever reason, I decided to explore Ken Wilber's ideas - leading to revelation and then epiphany. Wilber has the most grounded and comprehensive view on, well everything, that I have ever come across. I don't suggest that this audio book, or rather interview should be heard by all seekers because Wilber is "right" or dispensing "truth", but rather he looks at the big issues in the most comprehensive and integrated way. Even if you largely disagreed with him, his perspective would shake up your views in a positive way. I happen to largely agree with much of what he discusses here, but his perspective is not portrayed here as the sum of wisdom, but rather a framework to organize and build upon, for much greater wisdom in the future. We are all contributing to this human wisdom, and Ken Wilber serves our task admirably by suggesting a wonderful map to help us explore our place in reality or whatever this is - it's a lot more than a closet.
This is truly a wonderful opportunity to be exposed to mind-blowing ideas from a person who is extremely widely read and knowledgeable. Wilber is very comfortable with and supports the scientific method or approach as a very valid perspective. His gig is an integral or integrated approach and I realize that this is what I was missing in my spiritual and life quest. This man has thought an enormous amount about humans and our place in the Kosmos - and I cannot recommend too highly, listening to some of those thoughts.
And it turns out that Ken Wilber is a funny and down to earth human being. I would give anything to spend a day or a week hanging out with him and the interviewer here. Tammy Simon is the publisher of Sounds True Publishing. Hers is the intelligent and sensual voice that introduces those audible books and here she is the one to question Ken Wilber and lead us on this intellectual and spiritual adventure. I can only assume that she is too gracious to have her name listed as an author here, but her wonderful questions and her rapport with Wilber are just as important as Wilber himself. Obviously the two are friends, but she does not avoid gently challenging Wilber to explain some points she obviously takes issue with at times.
In short, this is a brilliant and breath taking opportunity to think about some big, or rather giant ideas in a comfortable format. And I intend to listen to it again very shortly. There is much to consider and learn. Enjoy!
Haven't been told years ago that Ken Wilber was an author I wanted to look into, I finally took the advice I picked up this audible production.
Done in a Q&A format, Much like a series of interviews.
The material was fascinating.A lot of different subjects were touched upon much of which was very clear and easy-to-understand, however, several additional subjects or lightly touched uponthat I will want to further investigate.
Much of the material bring true for me. It's always been difficult for me to explain to people how I could claim to follow a spiritual path, yet was unable to unequivocally state that war, Or violence, was wrong in every instance.
also difficult for me to articulate – to myself – why, if I believe in the sanctity of life, I am okay with capital punishment in some instances.
In short, this material touch done several areas of my personal philosophy and help me understand where I myself have been coming from!
Truly, fascinating material. Highly recommended.
Sound quality was excellent. Voices were easy on the ear.
12 hours passes quickly in this Kosmic conversation with Ken Wilber.
I found the flow of the conversation well structured and the questions relevant and insightful.
Extraordinary insight you just can't find anywhere else. I had no idea the world could make seance on such a fundamental level. If you confused by life, people you care about or why people are the way they are, I highly encourage you to listen to this discussion.
Really fantastic overview of Ken's work, and the modern thought leadership landscape at large. It's an intro to Integral theory, but prior exposure to some spiritual practice will be helpful. This ain't Sunday School.
I was captivated by the discussion and, as usual, the quality of the presentation from Sounds True. Great job.
Practicing Idealist, Dabbling Realist ;)
This conversation between Tami Simon and Ken Wilber is an interesting listen. There were a few chatty moments that didn't add to the discussion, but overall, this was laden with useful information.
I really enjoyed those portions that discussed the various methods or organizations that seek to evolve Consciousness through meditation - like TM, Zen Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, the machines, etc. I haven't found enough sources that discuss and compare, usually books are written by people who have picked and are promoting one way.
This Integral model is complex, yet, by discussing how it works, the meaning of the various parts, a deeply interesting look at humanity, individuals, nations, ideas and Consciousness unfolded and stretched my mind. I've come away from this book with a framework that I can use to "measure" things that are usually intangible. Like motives or self evolution.
The narration as a light-hearted conversation was delightful, although there was less focus that way, thus there was probably an extra hour of chattiness that added to the time, but perhaps also lessened any eye-glazing mind-numbness too since this kind of topic can be a lot to wade through at times.
Great interview. Tough questions with answers that I've been looking for! What a brilliant mind ... both of them. Love for Sounds True!
I've spent time with Ken Wilber's work intermittently over the last 12 years, most recently with the Theory of Everything. I found this a great compliment to his more formal works. The conversational approach and his grace, humility and laughter come through in his interaction with the interviewer. This made the theory and examples easier to grasp for me, and more fun to listen to.
Great tour of ken's work, and his up to date attitudes and demonstration of his increasingly humble, loving and whole self. A marvel to behold and a genuine gift to humanity, especially those involved in spiritual and psychological therapies, for either self or other
second time through it. getting it now. Ken tell a great story.
everybody should listen to this.
