Publisher's Summary

It is everywhere around us. Even worse, it gets inside us - sapping our energy, undermining our health, and making us more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, and disease. Now, based on Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's renowned mindfulness-based stress-reduction program, this groundbreaking audiobook shows you how to use natural, medically proven methods to soothe and heal your body, mind, and spirit.

By using the practices described within, you can learn to manage chronic pain resulting from illness and/or stress-related disorders, discover the roles that anger and tension play in heart disease, reduce anxiety and feelings of panic, and improve overall quality of life and relationships through mindfulness meditation and mindful yoga. More timely than ever before, Full Catastrophe Living is a book for the young and the old, the well, the ill, and anyone trying to live a healthier and saner life in today's world.

What did you love best about Full Catastrophe Living?

This is a good primer on the concept of mindfulness as a stress reduction tool. Is brief and concise enough to give you a basic understanding of what it is all about. You won't come away an expert or perhaps even at best, only a dabbler but it does a good enough job to make you want to learn more.

"Read and live at peace this will show you how to d"

If every person of power in this world read this book there would be no more wars, there would be no more hatred or disagreements because people would be caring and know how to help not hurt. Wow, what a great way to be, now, in the moment, not tomorrow, not yesterday, not even 10 minutes ago, just in the now

    "Jon Kabat-Zinn is superb."
If you could sum up Full Catastrophe Living in three words, what would they be?

Jon Kabat-Zinn explains how to begin to practice mindfulness and tells reasons why this practice is beneficial.

Have you listened to any of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Currently I am listening to Jon's Mindfulness Pain Reduction. This is my favorite since I need knee replacements and pain is constant. I have been able to reduce my pain medication.

    "coping with stress through meditation"

If you want to learn more about how to cope with stress via meditation then this is a good book for you. The book was written for people who have never practiced mindfulness and meditation before. It is not for people looking for a “quick fix” for their daily problems. The techniques taught by Dr. Kabat-Zinn are intended to be practiced everyday and eventually you will improve your ability to cope through relaxation techniques.

    "Wonderful"

The most comprehensive and accessible practical guide to mindful living I have ever read. Extremely intelligent, warm-hearted, and deeply human view, acknowledging the beauty of our imperfections and opening doorways to change. Loved every page of it and now using a lot of practical exercises offered in the book on a daily basis.

    "A path for Heart"

Of all the advantages to this stress reduction program none is as important to me as the path it opened to my heart. Even after multiple surgeries I was no closer to knowing my heart or my body. This tape has helped me sync my meditation practice with life off the cushion. Thank you I look forward to reading more of your works.
