This business of changing habituated thinking patterns is really the business of eliminating the same old tired excuses. People are forever using excuses and defending those excuse patterns as if they were actually true. But there are no excuses worth defending ever, even if they've always been part of your life.
This audiobook represents Wayne's effort to help anyone whose self-defeating thoughts are persistently present to learn how to discard those old thinking habits - and discover the infinite possibilities of life!

I am a big fan of Dr. Dyer's work. I bought this book with the idea that it may help me get off the couch and get things done. Instead, it has changed my whole outlook on my life and my priorities. It is such a deeply, thought provoking and uplifting work, I also bought the hardback version to keep and reread. Dr. Dyer has such a way with conveying deep concepts in a natural, calming and reassuring voice, that it is hard to stop listening to him. You owe it to yourself to listen to this book!
Wayne Dyer's Excuses Begone offers a way to improve your life as well as those of the people you know and meet. So often authors write many words without an actual method to follow. Dyer offers a method to make change for the good happen in your life. He lays it out clearly. An example, "if you have the choice, be kind, rather than right". Overall this work is a very enjoyable mix of spiritualism and rational realism that can be applied immediately. It is well worth several listens.
I thought this was an excellent book, but I do have one complaint: I thought Dyer read too fast at times. I wanted to relax, listen, and take his words in, but there were many passages where he read so fast I felt tense trying to catch everything he was saying.
This book gives you complete clarity on the roadblocks and excuses that are preventing you from living your best life. It is understandable, simplistic (though backed by impressive research) and most of all practical. Dr. Dyer gives REALISTIC approaches to eliminating roadblocks (excuses) in one's life. I highly recommend this book, if one approach can help you or make you think differently, it has paid for itself ten fold. He is also amazing to see in person if you ever get the chance. Bravo Hay House for continuing to provide the world with books authored by intelligent, thought provoking people. And no, I do not represent Hay House or any of it's affiliates, the book is just that good.
I believe this book will change my life forever. It certainly has motivated me to follow the instructions in the book. I had read the hard covered book and purchased the audio book for continued listening while in my car or office. My clients,my family and my friends are benefiting from my reading this book. I truley feel This book can change your life for the better,if you let it.I believe in this book so much that I have bought one for my Daughter and one for my brother. I dare say I will be sending more as I discover people in need of EXCUSES BEGONE.
The title says it, and the content backs it up. If you have read Dr. Dyer's other books, this one gives the maturity you would expect from a man of his experience and wisdom. He is very good at getting out the bad in your life (and head) and clearing out space for the good to come in. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to make positive changes in their life.
I gave it four stars because I am not a fan of his reading, and I think another reader of the audio could have made this even better.
Awesome Book!! Practical insights to live a high conscious life, I am a hugh fan of Dr Dyer I have found alot of profound, and helpful teaching is his work, but I feel this book is his best work.
In the interests of full disclosure, I should say I am a fan of self-help books and disposed to be positive about them. Unfortunately, I gave up on this one, despite willing myself to finish it. It was frustrating too because I felt some of the core ideas were sound. However, the invocation of, for me, bogus science to back up the ideas became gradually more and more intrusive. I don't think there is any need to postulate mysterious and vague forces and fields which, despite the impression given by the author, have certainly not become an accepted part of established peer reviewed science. This seems to be a growing trend in books of this type - "The Secret" has a lot to answer for. If you liked that book, then no doubt this one will work for you as well. If not, I would steer clear.
Addicted to Audible since 2009
This is a good book with some really good advice that definitely helped make me a better person and I really found many of the tips very helpful but the many God references were extremely annoying and certainly hurt in my overall liking of this book.
If you are looking for inspiration on where to go with your life and to realise that you need to live in the now, hear the words of Dr Dyer. A great orator, natural and down to earth, he helps you get to grips with how we all use excuses as reasons for us not fulfilling our potential, and living a life full of empathy and love. He has a great mellow voice too, I'd recommend it!
Another beautiful book by Wayne Dyer. I might not be the right one to review his work, because I simply love this man. This book and many others from Dyer has given me so much inspiration. My life is more beautiful because of his work.
I have overcome heavy things with Dyer and this book just gives more mind food ;)
I have been following Wayne Dyer for many many years & I truly have admired him for the path he has been on & to inform us of some of the errors or changes that he has made along his path. Wayne Dyer is authentic, warming & human, this book is another one of those you have to listen or read again. I've listened to the book twice & will keep revisiting it for many years to come.
Check out Wayne Dyer movie The Shift it's a 'must have' movie to watch again & again.
Really liked listening to this book on the walk to work and back - very inspiring and sets out clearly all the ways we hold ourselves back. Not sure if I can put it all into practice now but I will certainly be listening to this more than once - thought it was great. Will be looking out for more books by this author as I felt much more positive hearing how to overcome self-imposed limitations.
"lots of food for thought"
I found te start a bit hard going but once I got into it, it really made me think and see life in a different way
"Pause for thought...."
I have been a great fan of Wayne Dyer for some considerable years and it all began when I first read his books 'You'll See it when you Believe it' and 'Pulling your own strings'. As much as I enjoyed listening to 'Excuses Begone' this book, narrated by the great man himself, is going over work that he has written before. The book on the whole is very inspiring and I found myself suddenly thinking about things that I had forgotten from writings before and there are a few new ideas and contemplations. You will need to ponder whether you would want this lifestyle and I believe that the difficulty rating is high (although, no doubt, Wayne would consider this an excuse), but I would recommend reading it to decide for yourself whether or not Wayne is the man to teach you to reach a higher perspecive of your self being, and you will be inspired if this is the first book of Wayne's that you have read. It is do-able.
"Good content, terrible characterisation of the theme"
I just couldn't get along with Wayne's overly computer centred way of making sense of what is an important message. Returned
"Not really my cup of tea"
More of a spiritual look on how to overcome excuse mentality. Some good points but not enough workable solutions to make this book worthwhile. Certainly not recommended as an audio book as becomes extremely irritating with the authors insistence on the need to say "quote..... unquote" when citing other people (of which there are many)!
"Life changing book"
I've listened to the book a few times since I bought it on Audible. The more you listen the more it sinks in.
The list of excuses and how to address these really made sense. The list seems to cover almost all common excuses. Dr Dyer breaks down these excuses in a way that's difficult to argue against.
I prefer books where the author is also the narrator. The meaning behind the words really comes through with Dr Dyer's passion.
Excuses be gone! Stop making excuses - start living!
A life changing book. It really should be taught in school. I'm not at all religious and usually quite uncomfortable when books refer to a god. But the book's meaning of god, of good made a lot of sense. In fact it's easy to see how many religions have based many of their principles on those explored in thus book.
"A good book, just too many quotes"
Wayne Dyer is a valuable spiritual teacher. Usually I would listen over and over to the audio files I have of his, but this book contains too many quotes, which just doesn't work in an audio format.
Filling it full of this person and that person's words aids only to dilute the message, because it's just too much information in one sentence when listening rather than reading.
Reflection is required in spiritual teaching and I would prefer silence for thought, rather than quote upon quote upon quote.
The message is profound all by itself and are most of this man's teachings.
Thank you Dr Dyer.
